There were nationally ranked matchups, some great matchups between teams from both states and tons of high level talent throughout the event.
I was there Friday and Saturday, and here’s part two of the many standouts from the NC teams in attendance.
Don Lewis | 6’6” PF | Moravian Prep 2024
Lewis was absolutely fantastic in Moravian’s win over STAB, going for 34 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 6-for-8 from deep and being an absolute matchup nightmare. Lewis is a big body that you’d expect to bury people deep in the paint, and while he did that a few times it’s his elite perimeter skillset at his size that makes him such a unique prospect. He showed the ability to handle the ball in isolation and on dribble hand-offs where he could break defenders down and use his size to finish, he shot the cover off the ball from deep and he had a number of impressive passes as well.
Paul McNeil | 6’6” WG | Richmond Senior 2024
McNeil came in as one of the top ranked prospects in an event that had double digit nationally ranked recruits, and he didn’t disappoint as he went for a 50 ball in their win over First Flight and put up big numbers in their close loss to John Marshall too. The NC State commit showed his ability to get to spots and raise up to knock down shots, and on his team where he’s by far their biggest player he also had to protect the paint and guard the bigs too. He shot the cover off the rock showing his deep range and consistency from deep, something that Wolfpack fans will love over the next few years.
JV Drake | 5’11” CG | Richmond Senior 2024
Drake was absolutely fantastic for Richmond in their close loss to John Marshall, putting up big numbers and making plays on the defensive end while letting everyone on JM know it throughout the game. He is a star on Richmond’s powerhouse football program, and he brought that athleticism and toughness to the court as he went right at the nationally ranked foe and didn’t back down in any way. He guarded with intensity and made big plays on the defensive end, he was in attack mode getting to the rim regularly and he was a nuisance who go in their heads and made life miserable throughout the game.
Zion Walker Zion Walker 6'2" | PG The Burlington School | 2024 State NC | 6’2” PG | Burlington School 2024
The Mount St. Mary’s commit is one of the top lead guards in all of North Carolina, and was fantastic leading his young Burlington School team to a win over a very good Blue Ridge team Saturday. The strong guard handled the daunting pressure throughout the game and brought his own physicality as a rebounder and finisher as well. He scored the ball efficiently from all three levels going for 20 points in the win, and he made plays for others effortlessly dropping 8 assists as well.
Isaiah Henry Isaiah Henry 6'5" | CG Cannon School | 2025 State #162 Nation NC | 6’5” WF | Cannon School 2025
Henry is a very impressive prospect for this Cannon School team and he’s the perfect running mate for Austin Swartz Austin Swartz 6'5" | SG Cannon | 2024 State #40 Nation NC with his athleticism and physical style of play at his size. He’s a big bodied wing who gets downhill and uses his physical frame to finish through traffic and above the rim, and he has good ball skills on the perimeter that makes him tough to match up with. He can put it on the deck and drive in straight lines to get to the rim, he can knock down shots from deep when he’s left open and he showed great versatility defensively guarding multiple positions.
Sadiq White | 6’8” PF | Myers Park 2025
When it comes to long term potential in prospects, White is up there for one of the most impressive in the entire event as he fits the mold for a new age four man and has a ton of room to improve. He has a great basketball frame with long arms and he’s a fluid athlete who can use his length and explosion to play above the rim and protect the rim defensively. He plays with a good motor and gets after it on both ends of the floor, he has a good base skillset with the ability to put it on the deck and as he becomes a more consistent shooter he’ll be a nightmare of a matchup moving forward.
