Sperry showed out vs Madisonville-North Hopkins Friday night scoring in just about every way possible. Has a great mix of athleticism, size and strength which makes him effected, especially at the high school level. He was at his best getting to the rim scoring over length and finishing thru contact. Also had good touch on his floaters. He showed he has 3pt range and can create his own shot. I look for him to hone in on getting his jump shot more consistent. If he does that he will be even harder to guard.
Jaxon Hamilton
Jaxon Hamilton
I was impressed with Hamiltons play Friday night. Was easily the best defender on the court, getting in passing lanes, causing disruption and got ultimately got Breathitt in transition to get easy baskets. Is shifty with the ball with quickness which let him get to the paint whenever he wanted. Very unselfish player looking to kick out and guys easy shots. Proved to be more than capable scoring from anywhere on the court. Was the heartbeat for them.
Johnson is bit of a swiss army knife for MNH. He plays like a point-forward and was at his best getting rebounds and leading the break. He was hard to stop when he got downhill as his size and strength gave Breathitt issues. An underrated part of his game is his vision and passing ability. He got his teammates a bunch of open looks by using his size to see over the defenders. Has great instincts for the game.
Aaron Richardson
Aaron Richardson
Richardson is a quick guard with good athleticism that wants to get out in transition and go. Was at his best when the tempo picked up as he scored a few easy baskets in the flow of the game. Has a good looking shot, especially when he gets his feet set. Was good getting to the basket as well. He settled at times taking difficult shots but I was impressed with his potential of scoring the basketball. Intriguing prospect.
Riley Phillips
Riley Phillips
I was very impressed with Phillips game. He plays basically as a point – center that controls the game by his pace. He is always under control and makes the right play. Is a huge threat in pick and pop situations along with being a trail man. Great 3pt shooter off the catch and his feet are set. Defenders had trouble rotating out to defend him. I love him at the next level as a guy you can run your offense thru. High IQ player.
Robert Stewart
Robert Stewart
Stewart played well against Magoffin. He proved to be a knockdown 3pt shooter and allowed them to stretch the floor. He is a lefty and a huge threat from 3pt range and has one of the best looking shots I have seen in a while. With how well he shoots it, there is definitely a role for him somewhere at the next level. Only a Junior.
Barnett is an ultra aggressive athlete that was in constant attack mode Friday night. Has above the rim athleticism as he almost finished one of the best dunks I have seen over a defender. Can score both off the catch or dribble and is relentless to try to get to the rim. Can score with either hand. The most impressive play I say him make all game was an off the dribble mid-range jumper off a pick and roll. Looked natural for him. Big time competitor on both ends of the floor.
Grayson Whitaker
Grayson Whitaker
Whitaker is one of the best shooters in the state. He moved well off the ball and attracted a lot of attention on the perimeter. Loved how he read screens and found open spots to get shots. Plays with an extremely high IQ and works hard to make it easy for teammates to find him. After watching him, I thought an underrated part of his game was defensively. He was smart how he defended and seemed to always be in the right spot.
