<p>Prep Hoops Missouri spent the final day of the Holiday Tournament season at Maryville University to check out the action at the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament. This is what we observed in the four games we watched.</p>

<p>*Webster Groves defeats DeSmet in championship game.</p>

<p>Webster Groves won its fourth CvC title in the past decade in a back and forth battle with DeSmet. The Spartans controlled the first half with their hot perimeter shooting, but the Statesmen tightened things up defensively in the second half to overtake DeSmet.</p>

<p>Webster was led by 6'3 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2334870' first='Scottie' last='Adkinson'] who scored a game-high 19 points. He is constantly in attack mode for the full four quarters, which gets him to the free throw line often. <br>6'4 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1259025' first='Iziah' last='Purvey'] had 17 points and controlled the boards. He was a load inside to handle and his playmaking ability led to some easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. <br>Also looking impressive for Webster was 6'0 2025 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1557398' first='Carl' last='Whitehead Jr'], who scored 12 points. He came with some timely 3-point shooting and some strong straight line drives over the course of the game. </p>

<p>DeSmet was led by 6'4 2025 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1715259' first='Riley' last='Massey'], who scored 16 points. He is a versatile bucket who can score at all three levels. He was popping 3-pointers off the flair screen and backing his defender down to hit tough turnaround jumpers from the mid range.</p>

<p>Joining Massey in double figures was 6'3 2025 Dillon Duff and 6'4 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2346155' first='Jordan' last='Boyd'], who scored 10 points each. Duff is a Division l level quarterback prospect in football who can also hoop. He hit a pair of 3-pointers, including a nice step-back. Boyd is a young workhorse who was getting tough buckets on the drive and on post-ups.</p>

<p>The Kewpies defeated a short-handed Vianney team in the third place game in convincing fashion. Hickmans guard play was on point throughout the game as 6'0 2024 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1315454' first='Isaiah' last='Bonaparte'] led the way with 16 points and a number of impressive dimes. 6'0 2024 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1571722' first='Josiah' last='Griffith'] scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers and a nice mid-range jumper which he made while being fouled. 6'2 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1431929' first='Langston' last='Stroupe'] added 12 points. He hit a Corner 3 and scored on some nifty moves in the lane through traffic.</p>

<p>Vianney was playing without its top two players [player_tooltip player_id='1419873' first='Luke' last='Walsh'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1790001' first='Eddie' last='Smajic'], who were sitting it out. In their absence, 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2090504' first='Ben' last='Karsten'] shined as he scored a game-high 16 points. He showcased an impressive shooting stroke as he knocked down fie 3-pointers. The Golden Griffins also got a strong game from 7'3" 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1850525' first='Symon' last='Ghai'] in the middle. He scored 12 points and blocked and altered numerous shots inside. He has continued to improve as he also made some nice catches, which led to slam dunks.</p>

<p>The Flyers used a strong defensive performance to defeated Westminster Christian in the fifth-place game. Lindbergh was led by 6'10" 2024 center [player_tooltip player_id='1430532' first='Quinn' last='Sunderland'], who controlled the action at both ends of the court. He is an elite shot blocker with excellent timing and length to get swats without fouling. He also got a steal in the passing lanes and dribbled the length of the court for a slam dunk. He is very mobile and he has a nice shooting touch around the basket. Class of 2024 guard Zac Goss also came up with a strong effort. He is a tough southpaw point guard who stays in attack mode at all times. He is also a ball hawk on the defensive end. He has a motor that was constantly running.</p>
