This past Saturday the West Valley Eagles hosted a jamboree that brought in three other schools; 4A Central Valley, Lewis and Clark, and 3A University. Each team got a chance to go head to head and I got a chance to see some talent from Eastern Washington early on in the new season. Here's a breakdown of some standout players from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140850' first='Orland' last='Axton'] Central Valley

The Bears have a few younger players who should get solid minutes this season. One of them is Axton. He's a wing that shows some potential on the offensive end, but will stand out this season for his defensive ability. He's got the motor and lateral burst to guard on the perimeter, has the length to challenge shots, and has shown a want to get involved on the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140806' first='Cameron' last='Walls'] Central Valley

Another freshman for Central Valley, Walls is a quick guard with the footwork and change of pace to consistently get between defenders. He works well in traffic to pass or score and could be one of the more effective freshmen on the Eastside this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140814' first='Emerson' last='Lippoldt'] Central Valley

The 6-foot-6 forward showed some decent finishing around the hoop and a good feel for using his width to create enough space to get shots off with jump hooks and shots under the basket. He showed some good strength and fight to snatch down boards. He'll be a key player inside for the Bears.

[player_tooltip player_id='1440101' first='Shane' last='Skidmore'] University

Skidmore played big for the Titans, working for position on the blocks and making himself a big target for passes. He runs the floor well, is an athletic big, and was able to capitalize on trips to the free throw line.

Nikita Oberemok West Valley (Spokane)

Oberemok is a pretty fluid player who can slash inside and showed the wherewithal to quickly recognize kickouts when the extra defender showed up. He played tough defense too and was really aggressive on both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450580' first='Ben' last='Fried'] West Valley (Spokane)

Fried came out and showed the same improvements from 3-point I saw during the summer. He cooled off from deep as the night went on but still shows the makings of an incredibly important player for the Eagles who can facilitate, score, and apply pressure on opposing guards on the defensive end.
