Axton has been a steady riser for us over the past year and a lot of it has been due to his continued improvements from the 3-point line. He’s gotten to the point where that outside shot is a real strength of his game and it allows him to find more space behind that first line of defenders to make some plays. Did just that at the event, dropping in outside shots, attacking closeouts with control, and showing some poise in the heart of the defense to pick out some cutters. Led the Bears with 25 points versus Bothell and 30 against Sumner.

Axton is a swiss-army-knife who can play wing, off-guard, and even run the show for Central Valley. In their jamboree, he showed some effectiveness scoring from all three levels, and he’s shown some good improvements scoring off the bounce and stretching the floor. He’ll be a kid who fills a lot of gaps for them this season and can impact the game in different ways on a night-to-night basis.
