Josh Olthoff (2024) |6’8 PF| – 9.3 ppg, 6 rpg, 42 asst, 55.2 FT%, 53.4 FG%
“Very big body, but smooth with nice hands, feet, and touch around the rim. Also a very good passer.“
Landon Dulaney Landon Dulaney 6'1" | CG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’1 G| – 7 ppg, 5 rpg, 52 asst, 77.3 FT%, 36 FG%, 32.7 3FG%
“High upside young Point Guard. Great athleticism. Great playmaker. Humble and hard-working with great leadership skills.“
Briggs Knutson Briggs Knutson 5'11" | PG Brandon Valley | 2026 State SD (2026) |5’10 G| – 3.5 ppg, 2 rpg, 24 asst, 66.7 FT%, 22.4 FG%, 25.8 3FG%
“Briggs surprised us early last season in Sophomore and JV games and was quickly used in Varsity situations and handled it well. Late in the year was giving us 15-20 minutes a game at the PG spot. Quick, tough, great leadership skills. Led us in charges taken last season.“
Hayden Anderson Hayden Anderson 6'6" | PF Brandon Valley | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’5 F| – 1.9 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 40 FT%, 57.1 FG%
“Hayden is just a tough, physical body down low. Plays extremely hard doing the dirty work, crashing the boards, but also has the ability to score down low when needed. Averaged 15 ppg in JV last season.“
Brady Weels (2024) |6’1 G|
“Brady can get very hot from 3-point range at times. When he’s combining that shooting ability with great defense and hustle he can give us a huge spark.“
Michael Alpers (2024) |6’1 G|
“When Michael is dialed in he gives us athleticism and playmaking ability that few others can.“
Bergen Irey Bergen Irey 6'4" | SG Brandon Valley | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’4 F|
“Bergen is as good of a shooter as we have. When he defends and rebounds he makes a huge impact on the game.“
Mach Mayen Mach Mayen 6'5" | SF Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’3 F|
“Mach is a high flyer who can block shots and make a ton of plays. Also has nice vision and passing ability. When he puts it together with concentration and hustle he is as good at his position as nearly anybody.“
Brayden Miller Brayden Miller 5'10" | SG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’0 G|
“Brayden can shoot it and be a playmaker. Is just some minor steps away from being a big-time impact player.“
Ryland Carroll (2025) |6’0 G|
“Ryland was used in spots last year simply because of his ability to knock down 3-point shots. Made 3 per game last year at the JV level.“
Thoughts on the Season from Nelson
“We played a lot of young players last year, and therefore have a lot of minutes of varsity basketball returning. I wouldn’t say we are an experienced team, as none of these guys have ever played in a State Tournament, but they did see some meaningful minutes last year. We will have the talent to make some noise but will have to replace a lot of leadership & intangibles, so I’m very curious to see how that comes together.“
Tri-Valley
Mascot: Mustang Head Coach: Brandon Feterl Class: A Region: 3
Q&A with coach Feterl
PHD: What can you tell us about last season?
“We were competitive last season but our turnovers and shooting woes held us back from winning a lot of games.“
PHD: How did the offseason go for your team?
“We had a fantastic off-season. We have a lot of young talent coming into the building and seeing that mesh with some of our upperclassmen was really fun to see. We went to a couple of different team camps and hosted a jamboree with a few other teams. I was really excited with what I saw. We also spent time in the gym on our shooting machine and open gyms. The boys are also great about helping with our youth camp which is fun to see.“
PHD: Do you return any starters?
Trey Johnson Trey Johnson 6'7" | PF Tri-Valley | 2024 State SD – 6’7″ SR – “A long athletic skilled big who can be really good when he’s on the floor. We will look to Trey to lead us this season. Great instincts for blocking shots and can score in a lot of different ways.“
Carter Sorensen – 6’0″ SR – “A really good athlete who can also defend. Can shoot from the perimeter or play make for his teammates.“
Logan Ellison – 5’11 SR – “A really good three-point shooter. Logan is a great leader and example of how to be coachable.“
PHD: Who are some of your top players to watch?
“We will look for our three returning senior starters to be leaders. The three seniors are Logan Ellison, Carter Sorensen, and Trey Johnson Trey Johnson 6'7" | PF Tri-Valley | 2024 State SD . We also have a fourth senior, Isaac Langloss, who will be a contributor. Junior Alex Wingen Alex Wingen 5'11" | CG Tri-Valley | 2025 SD played major minutes for us as a sophomore last season and we will look for him to continue to grow as a player.“
PHD: Who are some of your up-n-comers to watch?
Tristen Bunde Tristen Bunde 6'2" | SG Tri-Valley | 2026 State SD (10th) – “Played major minutes for us by the end of the season as a freshman last year and will have the opportunity to compete for a starting job. I’m excited to see where Tristen can take his game this season.“
Brady Jewett Brady Jewett 5'11" | CG Tri-Valley | 2027 State SD (9th) – “Sharpshooting guard, endless potential. Really looking forward to seeing what Brady can do this year.“
Ty Oyen (10th) – “Long positionless player that can do everything well. Has really grown and come to his own over the summer. Can’t wait to get Ty out there this season.“
PHD: What style of basketball will you play?
“Everything starts with playing defense as a unit and getting stops. After that, we will try to open up the floor with transition and play with pace. We have athletes who can get up and down the floor and will look to take advantage of that.“
PHD: Do you have any team goals?
“Be competitive in Conference play.“
“Win 10+ games.“
“Be the best version of ourselves when Regions start.“
