These players have shown flashes in the past to show that they are ready to have big seasons and rocket up the rankings this year. Here are my players looking to breakout for the 2024 class.
Murray has the potential to have a real breakout season this year as in the past you see the noticeable growth and development of his game. The 6’3″ combo guard has a tight handle with the ball and can use his speed and quickness to get by most defenders. Murray has a consistent three-point shot and knows how to pick his spots in the midrange. He controls his body well in the air when driving to the rim using his athleticism to adjust what the defense is giving him.
Harrison has shown two-way potential every year making this year the year he puts it all together to become an elite offensive and defensive player. At 6’4″ Harrison can guard multiple positions no matter the situation. His ability to get into the passing lanes and stripping ball handlers is what makes him an excellent defensive player. On the offensive end, he has a smooth shot from the three-point line and can increase his range the more he makes in a game. Harrison will also use his size to back down smaller defenders in the paint for easy points.
Butler is a dominant player in the painted area because of his 6’4″ size and elite athleticism. He plays more like a hybrid forward even though he is listed as a shooting guard. His ability to crash the glass is what gives his team more possessions because of his never-ending motor to go after the ball. Butler will attack the rim at will and is not afraid to throw it down over anyone. He has a soft touch around the rim when looking to post up and can slither his way around defenders in creative ways. His shot-blocking ability is another skill that will put fear into the opposing team’s eyes once he steps out on the court.
O’Reilly is a sharpshooter from downtown and knows how to get his shots within the flow of an offense. His ability to spread the floor and make open or tough contested shots is what makes him a huge threat on the offensive end. He has deep range well beyond the three-point line. O’Reilly can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim if he sees an opening taking full advantage of his 6’3″ size over smaller defenders.
You could say that Culuko had a breakout season last year averaging 23.3 points per game. However, I feel Culuko will have an even better season this year. He can takeover games because of his all-around skillset. He can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim aggressively using a very effective spin move. He can stop on a dime in the midrange and hit tough shots from that area. His three-point shooting is excellent as you cannot give him any space to get his shot off. Also on defense he will pick-up his assignment full-court and will constantly apply pressure to opposing players.
