Expert Analysis
Andrew Herman | Prep Hoops Scout
Butler is a dominant player in the painted area because of his 6’4″ size and elite athleticism. He plays more like a hybrid forward even though he is listed as a shooting guard. His ability to crash the glass is what gives his team more possessions because of his never-ending motor to go after the ball. Butler will attack the rim at will and is not afraid to throw it down over anyone. He has a soft touch around the rim when looking to post up and can slither his way around defenders in creative ways. His shot-blocking ability is another skill that will put fear into the opposing team’s eyes once he steps out on the court.

Butler is an athletic rim-running guard/forward that looks to attack the rim in every possession. His quickness allows him to blow by defenders in any situation. Butler will look to use his strong pump fake in the paint if he is trapped and will almost certainly follow up his shot if he misses it for the offensive putback slam. He is a tenacious rebounder and will stop at nothing to come up with the board.

Butler is a fierce athletic rebounder and shot blocker. He loves to play physically down low going to a multitude of moves including a sweet hook shot. Butler finishes with both hands confidently around the rim. He can guard every position at a high level. Butler will even knock down a three-point shot every once in a while if you give him open space. Butler averaged close to 8 points per game this season with him getting better every game he played. I feel confident Butler will turn some heads and have a monster season next year.
