Mark’s Scoutbook: Harvest Community Warriors

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Warriors of Harvest Community School had a breakout season in their 1st year under Coach Meddings. Harvest had their first winning season since 2017, finishing 20-5 and a district runner-up in 2A last year. The senior-led group is looking to surpass the previous season's record win total (20) for the program.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Despite their 20-win season, the Warriors missed the regional playoffs last season. Coach Meddings has high expectations in his second year. He stated we want to compete for a regional playoff berth this year. The Warrior's strength of schedule is better than last year. The Warriors are looking to build off their run last year. After talking with Coach Meddings further, he is projecting 16-18 wins this season for his program. If the Warriors could win 16 games, they may be able to snag the team's first regional berth in program history.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Key Game:</strong>&nbsp;Home vs. University Christian 12/8/23</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I have it listed as a game for the Warriors. They beat UC last season on the road. University Christian is a revamped team from last season. This game may have early playoff implications in 2A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Top Returning Player:</strong>&nbsp;Isaiah Bunso l 6-5 l Forward (Sr.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bunso plays with a motor. He averaged a double-double last year (11 PPG &amp; 10 RPG), and the expectations are for him to have a bump up in his numbers. Sneaky good mid-range, most effective around the rim.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Accolades: 2A All-State List, 2A All-Academic All-State, NACA All-Tournament, 3.8 GPA</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>The X-Factor:</strong>&nbsp;Adrian Walker l 6-1 l Guard (Sr.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The energetic lefty excels in the mid-range and is a pest defensively. Usually tends to have the assignment of guarding the opposing team's best offensive player nightly. The kid plays with a lot of heart and a chip on his shoulder. There aren't too many productive two-way players left, but he is one of them. Walker averaged 12 PPG &amp; 8 RPG last season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Accolades: 2A All-State list, All-NE Florida List, 3.8 GPA</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Hidden Gems:</strong>&nbsp;[player_tooltip player_id='1296056' first='Sean' last='Murphy'] l 6-3 l Guard (Sr.)&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Murphy is a sniper for the Warriors. I would not recommend leaving him open on the perimeter. His improved scoring off the dribble has made him a solid option for the Warriors offensively.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adam Lawson l 6-2 l Guard (Jr.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lawson is a versatile piece that can plug and play for the Warriors. He might have the best upside on the team in the long run if he can continue his development.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Impactful Transfers:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ryan Pritchard l 6-5 l Forward (So.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Key transfer as it will push Bunso to more of a natural position for him, which is the 4. Pritchard comes in from Faith Baptist and will plug the paint. He can stretch the floor for the Warriors offensively. Pritchard is a big-body bruiser who creates much-needed depth at the forward position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Markel Baker l 5-11 l Guard (Jr.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speed demon on the court from Laurel High (Maryland). Baker averaged 10.5 PPG last season. Baker might be one of the fastest guards in North Florida. Harvest likes to play quick, and Baker fits into their quick offense. He can score a barrage of points in a blink of an eye.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Impactful Underclassmen:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nathan McCartney l 6-1 l Guard (So.)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He shoots the ball at a decent rate, averaging 16 PPG last season on JV.
