About Phillips: A long, athletic wing who can defend multiple positions, score inside and out, and rebound at a high clip on both ends of the floor, Phillips may be one of the highest upside prospects in the 2024 class around the state. He’s a player who may just be scratching the surface of his potential, as he has steadily improved throughout the last few years, and then took a major leap over this summer with his ability to create off the dribble. A lanky lefty who can impact the game on both ends of the floor, he should be a solid D2 option for whichever school lands him.
Why he can win Mr. Basketball: North Scott figures to be one of the better teams in the state this season, and Phillips is their best player. With his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, some voters may be intrigued by his stat-sheet stuffing numbers at the end of the year, especially if the Lancers can make a deep postseason run.
