The number one team in Class AAAA against the number one team in Class AA. Who looked good? What did we notice?

One. Jackson could move up even higher. Last March the statement made was "Jackson is top 50 nationally" and while it was bold, I was very confident in it. I am now moving that to top 25 in the nation. There is so much potential to him and room for growth. We saw the range again here, we see what he can do skill wise on the move but also in this game we saw things that make him even more dangerous like: 1) Using either hand around the rim to finish on the move comfortably, 2) back to the basket success making contact and moving off to square and hit with a jumper or shoulder turning into a touch, 3) defensively the two forward that he was on simply could not score over his size and he had it in the right spot, and 4) the way he was finishing on the move a high speed but touching in scores should elite body control. And here's what is crazy, when Jackson adds core strength in a college weight program he's going to be even more dangerous.

Two. Freitag Unstoppable Early. Daniel had five baskets before the game was ten minutes old. He had two dribble separation pull-up makes on the first two possessions! This was followed by rim attacks completed and Wayzata simply had no guards or wings that were physically capable of doing much with him. Looks like at some point at the end of half one he went to the sideline as you can see he was icing his foot or ankle on the bench. But an impressive group of scoring clips before he had to leave the game.

Three. [player_tooltip player_id='1286705' first='Drew' last='Nepstad'] steps up! You can see in the video that when Wayzata started pulling away it was with Drew on the floor. He opened the game with physical active buckets at the rim but then it was cuts to catch and score, and then a post up, and then a one dribble attack. The biggest shot came late when Drew hit a corner three to ice the game. I noticed that the outstanding Wayzata ball movement for scores seemed to consistently have Nepstad touching the ball someplace in the middle of the floor.

Four. [player_tooltip player_id='1454976' first='Wyatt' last='McBeth']. Early in the game [player_tooltip player_id='1454976' first='Wyatt' last='McBeth'] did a lot around the rim for Wayzata working to his spots and then taking advantage of his size and positioning to score. The young Trojan also used a dribble around the rim to score and we saw him run the floor with the ball to produce a basket in transition making a nice move. The [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] are going to be a balanced deep team with size and McBeth looks like he will be a part of that.

Five. Breck Ball Movement. When the game got deeper on the clock you could see two things very clearly: 1) when Breck moved the ball or pushed in transition they got a lot of good shots and they have the depth of talent to have many different players scored. 2) when this video showed misses, it was no pass or one pass possessions that became long misses transitioned the other way, or turnovers after too much dribbling that went the other way. Breck looked dominant this summer in the Breakdown Summer State Tournament because of their ball movement and getting everybody good touches, as long as the ball is passed more and bounced less they will be unstoppable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNjSoINfXls
