Panthers Take the Championship:
The Pinewood Prep Panthers started the season off by claiming the Battle of the Lowcountry . The Panthers defeated the host Cathedral Academy 57-50 to win the Championship on Sunday evening. The Panthers will really look to make a good push this season in SCISA Class 4A.
Vince Has Strong Showing:
Michael Vince Michael Vince 6'5" | SG Pinewood Prep | 2024 State SC came out on fire on Sunday and led the way for the Pinewood Prep Panthers to the victory. Vince a lengthy wing has added some height over the past year finished with 21 points in the victory. Michael connected on a few three-pointers and some floaters here today. Vince does a really nice job of setting his feet and getting his shot off while shooting it at a good clip.
Panthers Support Cast:
The future looks bright for Head Coach Pat Eidson and the Panthers. Jonathan Slawson Jonathan Slawson 5'11" | PG Pinewood Prep | 2026 State SC was able to direct the Panthers to victory with his heady play here today. Slawson will sacrifice his frame on both ends of the court to make a play for the Panthers. He really plays the game to the fullest on both ends of the floor.
A few names to add to the database are Jayden Alexander Jayden Alexander 5'8" | PG Pinewood Prep | 2026 State SC and Kais Parris Kais Parris 6'5" | SF Pinewood Prep | 2027 State SC . Alexander a guard finished with 11 points while connecting on 3 three-pointers. Parris is a very nice sized wing player who looks the part already. Kais didn’t impact the scoring column but that will be in due time down the road.
Tripp Eidson Tripp Eidson 6'6" | PF Pinewood Prep | 2027 State SC is the grandson of Head Coach Pat Eidson. Tripp saw plenty of action a year ago as an 8th grader. Eidson played aggressive at times and showed the ability to play inside and out. Tripp currently stands at 6-foot-6 .
Generals Duo:
Bryce Ward Bryce Ward 5'9" | PG Cathedral Academy | 2027 State SC and AJ Gresham AJ Gresham 6'0" | CG Cathedral Academy | 2025 State SC will look to carry the load this season for the Cathedral Academy Generals in SCISA Class 2A. The duo both finished with 19 points apiece in the loss to Pinewood Prep this evening.
Ward really excels getting the ball to the cup and playing in the open court. Bryce surely doesn’t lack any confidence on the floor with his play. Ward is shifty to the cup and has no problems touching the paint on a regular basis. He will take gambles at times on the defensive end of the floor.
Gresham plays his best basketball in attack mode and getting to the basket for the Generals. AJ was able to stalk the baseline on occasion here today when he wasn’t scoring in transition.
