In this final installmen I will talk about who is ready to make a name for themselves in the state of nebraska for this upcoming high school season. Each one of these young men has what it takes to make it to the next level and will add value to any college program lucky enough to grab them.
This 6’3 Point Guard has been catching a lot of eyes as of late and for good reason, his ability to lead his team and run an offense is a coaches dream. His offensive skill set is what is the most intriguing, I think the thing that stands out the most is his basketball IQ and his ability to get to his spots on the floor with no wasted dribbles and either makes a fantastic pass leading to bucket or scoring himself. His physical build is very deceptive and is quite surprising how well he can get to the hole and finish through contact, not to mention he is absolutely lethal from behind the three point line and can hit consistently of the dribble or off the catch. Gaeth is both a vocal leader on the court and some one who leads by example making him a player any teammate would love to have. He currently holds offers from Central Missouri, Maryville, Midland, Briar Cliff, Central Community College, Hastings College, and Concordia University (NE) and will definitely impact winning at whatever school is lucky enough to land him.
The recent South Dakota State commit is the best prospect in the state of Nebraska and for good reason, Jackson’s quickness, strength, and ability to score at will make him a mismatch nightmare for defenders and is constantly in attack mode. This young man can literally score from anywhere on the court and can also be the main ball handler in offensive sets opening up more options for teammates to get easy buckets. The poise and pace he plays with makes it near impossible to throw him off his game and makes defenders look absolutely foolish when trying to guard him. Defensively he is a good as it gets his strength and and lateral quickness make him a phenomenal perimeter defender and has even shown the ability to guard bigger guards and wings with no problems. If I had to give my pick for player of the year in the state of Nebraska this upcoming season it would be a no brainer! I can not wait to see what he can do at the next level!
Nate Kelley
Nate Kelley
Kelley is severely underrated but won’t be flying under the radar much longer I guarantee it. He is a high IQ efficient three point threat with the ability to put the ball on the floor as well. He was named the 15U MVP of the NXT Pro Finals this past grassroots season and is looking to continue that success this upcoming high school season. This young man is not to be left open at any time he shoots well over 40 percent from three and never forces his shot. His ability to play off the ball and come off screens is very impressive and makes him a nightmare to keep up with defensively. He also knows how to control the pace of a game with ball in his hands seemingly thinking a play ahead of the defense. Overall Nate Kelley is definitely a name you’ll want to pay attention over the next couple years.
Bahl is a three point sniper with deep range, a quick smooth release, and absolutely no fear with the ball in his hands. He is best in catch and shoot situations showing he can knock it down from pretty much anywhere past half court. Bahl has a JJ Reddick type game where he is an insanely good shooter but really is just an absolute bucket getter! He has a fantastic floater in the paint and can knock it down off the dribble in the mid-range area. He is also no slack defender, he knows how to play passing lanes using the right hand to make steals and get out in transition and even finish above the rim. As 3 & D prospects go there aren’t too many better than Bryson Bahl Bryson Bahl 6’4″ | SG Papio South | 2025 State #289 Nation NE . Most recently he had Drake University out to check him out and currently holds a division 1 from Bryant University but I expect that list to grow exponentially once this high school season is over.
Marrius Cantu
Marrius Cantu
Cantu is a big bodied power forward with a ton of potential! His best attribute is by far his rebounding on both ends, he knows how box out and fight for position which in today’s game is a lost art. Getting second chance buckets and finishing through contact is were he does most of his damage offensively, but he is still improving has a ton of room to grow. defensively he is super solid, staying on his feet, walling up, and staying out of foul trouble. He really checks all the boxes for a big man and can get you 10 points and 10 rebounds consistently. As his body matures his athleticism will grow and he will be even more of a problem in the post. I am truly excited to watch his growth over the next two years.
McDowell is an efficient scoring threat from anywhere on the court. When he has the ball in his hands there is no wasted motion, every dribble, every move has a purpose. From three he shoots over 40 percent and has nba range making him a legit threat anywhere past half court. His ability to hit the mid-range jumper off the dribble is unmatched and shoots over 50 percent from the field. You do not want to send this young man to the line if you are an opposing team because he shot 82 percent from the freethrow line last high school season. Defensively he is as solid as they come showcasing his ability as a perimeter defender as well as showing he can switch on a big if needed. He currently holds offers from Midland University, Hastings College, and Doane University. Whatever school that he ends up choosing is getting an absolute steal!
Now standing at 6’6 this wing/forward is going to be a player to watch over the next two years. He is a crafty scoring threat who can get a bucket in a multitude of ways, He can knock down open jumpers, put the ball on the floor and finish through contact, post up smaller defenders and score inside. His versatility on both ends makes him a phenomenal prospect in the 2025 class. defensively he can guard 2-4 with no problems and isn’t afraid to get dirty and make hustle plays. The fact that he is still improving is a scary thought, I truly believe that by the end of 2024 he will no longer be flying under the radar and will catch the eyes of a ton of college coaches.
