Prep Hoops Florida is taking a look at the preseason all-state teams for the upcoming season. We have a lot of new faces in new places this season and are excited to tip-off next month. Here are the nominees for the Class 3A Player of the Year this season. Voting will end on Monday, October 23.
Cameron Boozer Cameron Boozer 6'9" | PF Columbus | 2025 State #2 Nation FL
The 6-9 junior power forward is the reigning National Gatorade High School Player of the Year. Boozer helped lead his team to their second consecutive state title last spring. He also led the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks as a sophomore last season.
The 6-5 junior shooting guard is the table-setter for his team and is a creative finisher around the rim. Cayden also has improved his perimeter shooting over the last two seasons.
The 6-6 senior shooting guard is a well-gifted athlete who can score on all three levels. He is long, athletic and bouncy on the boards limiting the opposition from getting second chance scoring opportunities.
Jordan Gonzalez Jordan Gonzalez 5'10" | CG Ferguson | 2024 FL
The 5-10 senior guard led Class 7A in scoring last season, as he averaged 27.3 points per game. Gonzalez is a natural three-level scorer who has huge upside heading into the season.
Christian Maxon Christian Maxon 6'2" | CG Fort Pierce Central | 2025 State FL
The 6-2 junior combo guard is coming off a season where he led the state in 3-pointers made (96). He is also considered to be an above-average defender where he plays with a high motor and good energy.
Elijah Lubsey Elijah Lubsey 6'7" | PF North Port | 2024 State FL
The 6-7 senior power forward makes an absolute living in the paint where he shot 47 percent from the field last season. Lubsey averaged a near double-double last season at 19.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Matthew Puodziukaitis Matthew Puodziukaitis 6'7" | PF Palm Beach Central | 2024 State FL
The 6-7 senior combo forward had a limited summer due to an injury, but he is back and could have a strong senior season. Last season as a junior, Puodziukaitis averaged 13.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game as a junior. He currently holds offers from Allegheny College, Dean College and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
The 6-0 junior point guard is a menace on both ends of the floor whether it’s his scoring on the offensive end or applying ball pressure on the defensive end. Reece is one of the top shooters in the state for his class.
The 6-2 senior guard showcases a great arsenal with the basketball in his hands whether it’s shooting from beyond the arc or attacking the rim. He is also a rangy defender who can cover a ton of ground with his athleticism. Wilson is also an above-average rebounder for his size.
