Reece is the epitome of a floor general, orchestrating Oak Ridge’s offense with precision. His court vision is second to none, threading passes through defenses like a surgeon with a scalpel, particularly in pick-and-roll situations. His scoring bag includes deep-range shooting, crafty floaters, and a knack for creating separation with deceptive fakes. While his strength lies in pull-up and off-the-dribble jumpers, his ability to disrupt opposing offenses and spark transition plays highlights his defensive prowess. Recently committed to LSU, Reece is poised to make a mark at the collegiate level.

Reece brought that more traditional point guard game to the forefront and was able to orchestrate for Oak Ridge during their four games. Paired with Jones, the flurry of passing and ability to find a way to get the ball through tight pockets on pick and rolls was on full display. Reece averaged almost 6 assists per game, but his offensive impact didn’t stop at just sharing the ball. He has the long range three-ball in his arsenal, but also showcased a bag of floaters in the lane and some nifty fake outs to draw the defense while opening visibility to knock down shots or play off the glass. He showed more strength when shooting off of the dribble drive or dribble pull up rather than catch and shoot opportunities. On the defensive end, Reece is a confident defender and was fully engaged on his assignments. If an opponent exposed the ball and Reece was matched up, he was frequently able to get control and begin the break. With Reece heading to LSU next season, he will certainly be an interesting piece to watch on the Tigers roster.

Reece can flat out score. I was very impressed with how he went right at Utah Prep in the first half of their game. He is crafty with his ball handling and defenders don’t have much room for error. His competitiveness was also evident. Reece has committed to LSU and it looks like they’ve got a good one.

With plenty talent along the wings, junior lead guard Jalen Reece spread the ball around and made sure all of his teammates got touches with an opportunity to score. While he only finished with 3 assists, he made a number of passes that ultimately led to a easy basket. He’s extremely quick and sees the floor well while remaining a threat to score himself.

The 6-0 junior guard plays with a ton of confidence and is super-skilled when he has the basketball in his hands. Reece can make defenders pay whether he can shoot from beyond the arc or on the attack towards the basket. Reece is also a persistent passer when it comes to finding open shooters on the move or the swing. Defensively, Reece has a good knack for jumping the passing lanes where he forces a ton of turnovers which lead to baskets on the other end.

Once this game got to crunch time, Reece took over for his team making big play after big play to steal an overtime win away from Reynoldsburg. Whether it was getting to his spot and delivering a tough pull-up jumper in a defenders face, dishing it to a teammate or providing pressure to force turnovers, Reece was everywhere when it mattered most. Showing why he’s regarded as a top 100 prospect in the nation, Reece and Oak Ridge showed their mental toughness to make comebacks twice this weekend against some of the most talented teams Ohio could throw at them. Really impressed with this group and expect them to do big things the rest of the way down in Florida.
