He nearly tripled his scoring average from his freshman to sophomore year, leading Eastwood High at 11.3 PPG in addition to assists and steals per game. He was recognized as the 1-6A District MVP by the El Paso Times for that improvement while leading the Troopers to a near-undefeated 15-1 district record. Stats and team accomplishments aside, he's arguably the best combo guard in the city and can fluently play on and off the ball, thanks to his excellent court vision and shooting acumen. Moreover, his shooting variety makes him lethal in the halfcourt, i.e., coming off screens, catching and shooting, spotting up, or pulling up from three in transition. His 6-1 frame and solid shooting base allow him to pull the trigger over tough contests or finish with contact at the rim. It also helps that DFR is a dual-sport athlete, as he was a region qualifier in the triple jump during the 2023 track and field outdoor season. Considering he still has two more years of high school ball ahead of him, the best has yet to come for [player_tooltip player_id='2023032' first='Devin' last='Falk-Ramirez'].","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"[player_tooltip player_id='2376913' first='Brandon' last='Hymes']","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"6'4u0022","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"77246","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"Chapin","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_1_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_1_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"With the departure of Bryson Goldsmithu002du002dEl Paso's best basketball prospect in yearsu002du002dyou can expect [player_tooltip player_id='2376913' first='Brandon' last='Hymes'] to have an explosive senior year. He's the most disruptive defensive player in El Paso simply because he can do everything. You can find him stalking guards as Chapin's lead point-of-attack defender, reading passing lanes for steals, or protecting the rim as a weak side defender. He leaves no stone unturned defensively, but that is not all. Hymes is an elite athlete with great speed and verticality. Defenders need help staying in front of him in the halfcourt and have an even more difficult time catching up to him in transition. Last season, he played on one of the city's deepest rosters and, now, is undoubtedly their best returning player. With nothing to question defensively, it should be a treat to see what leaps Hymes takes offensively this season.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_2_player_details_player_name":"Ethan Martinez","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_2_player_details_graduating_class":"2024","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_2_player_details_height":"null","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_2_player_details_position":"77246","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_2_player_details_school":"Franklin","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_2_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_2_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_2_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Ethan Martinez comes to mind when you think of the prototypical point guard. Leading Franklin High in assists last season, Martinez knows how to find the open man. He's a shifty lefty with a knack for finding openings all over the court. His court vision is second to none, whether it be outlet passes in transition, nifty short pocket passes with a Big rolling, or driving and kicking to an open man for three. The Cougars lost two of their three leading scorers from last season due to graduation; expect to see Martinez look to score more going forward.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"[player_tooltip player_id='2827048' first='Andruw' last='Andujo']","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"2026","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"5'5u0022","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"77246","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"Austin","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details_club_team":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_3_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_3_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Coming off a phenomenal freshman year where he led Austin High in points and steals per game, [player_tooltip player_id='2827048' first='Andruw' last='Andujo'] is among the most anticipated rising sophomores in El Paso heading into the 2023-24 season. Andujo is a diminutive guard at 5'5'' who likes to score from range. He has no problem pulling up from three to four feet behind the 3-point line if given the space. Defensively, he's quick around the court, usually racking up steals at the top of Austin's full-court press. With the Panthers graduating their second, third, and fourth leading scorers this past season, Andujo should shoulder an even bigger scoring load. You can expect him to be among the leading scorers in his district and the city.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":4,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6525e0db90246"} /-->
