Expert Analysis
Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
Falk-Ramirez wrapped up his season with 19.3 points per game on an outstanding 49% shooting from the field and 38% from three-point range. One of the most consistent scorers all year, he finished with double-digit points in 30 of 31 games. His ability to score at all three levels, whether from deep, mid-range, or at the rim—along with his knack for getting to the free-throw line made him a constant offensive threat every night.

In the biggest game of the 2024-25 season in El Paso 6A boys basketball, Eastwood hosted Eastlake, with the winner taking sole possession of first place in 1-6A. Both teams were undefeated and playing some great basketball coming into the game. Well, the game was a dud in large part because one of the most underrated players in the state of Texas absolutely went off. I’m talking about Eastwood’s

, who scored 29 points–one less than Eastlake’s 30. The perimeter shooting was on full display in this game. He was aggressive but also within the flow of Eastwood’s motion offense. It’s the best game I’ve seen this kid play over the past two seasons, and I’ve seen Falk-Ramirez do some incredible things. He’s a legitimate DI talent who is being under-recruited. College coaches need to start watching more tape on this kid; luckily, Eastwood broadcasts their home games.

Although he had some up-and-down games within the tournament, Eastwood’s

deserves some mention. He struggled in the Troopers matchup against Chapin High School, but most teams and prospects do. That said, he also had some standout performances. He dropped 32 points against Jefferson High School and could have easily had 40. On the day, Jefferson scored 28 points, and Falk-Ramirez outscored them by four. When this kid plays with his finger on the trigger all four quarters, he dominates games. He can score with the best of them in this region and he can do it at all three levels.

, but he is still being slept on at the regional and state levels. The Eastwood point guard is the best floor general in the Borderland who plays methodically and efficiently. He might not play above the rim or produce flashy plays, but he does everything right. Recruiters should get in on him now because he will have a stellar senior season, just like he did as a junior and sophomore.

Last week’s Eastwood-Franklin game was a physical foul-heavy game which saw both teams live at the free throw line. Thus, Eastwood star guard did most of his damage from the line as he scored nine of his 15-points from the stripe. Moreover, he hit some clutch free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime to push the Troopers across the line. It was another game that highlighted Falk-Ramirez’s ability to impact the game outside of facilitating and hitting from the field.

last season. He nearly tripled his scoring average from his freshman to sophomore year, leading Eastwood High at 11.3 PPG in addition to assists and steals per game. He was recognized as the 1-6A District MVP by the El Paso Times for that improvement while leading the Troopers to a near-undefeated 15-1 district record. Stats and team accomplishments aside, he’s arguably the best combo guard in the city and can fluently play on and off the ball, thanks to his excellent court vision and shooting acumen. Moreover, his shooting variety makes him lethal in the halfcourt, i.e., coming off screens, catching and shooting, spotting up, or pulling up from three in transition. His 6-1 frame and solid shooting base allow him to pull the trigger over tough contests or finish with contact at the rim. It also helps that DFR is a dual-sport athlete, as he was a region qualifier in the triple jump during the 2023 track and field outdoor season. Considering he still has two more years of high school ball ahead of him, the best has yet to come for

played with a deliberate pace, excellent control, and precise movements, often looking to create his own shot. His craftiness was a standout trait as he consistently outsmarted his defenders. Falk-Ramirez displayed a keen basketball IQ, thinking a step or two ahead of the defense and understanding how they would react. His ability to control a game and orchestrate an offense made him a valuable playmaker on the court.
