Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: Russell-Tyler-Ruthton
The newcomer comes in with a state title, an all state player, a couple key reserves returning, and one of the best transfers at the Class A level. RTR is back and ready for another run. They may not have the same talent level but its still pretty good.
Top Ten in State Potential: Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey, Southwest Minnesota Christian
I have Mt Lake Area-Comfrey at 18 coming in Class A coming into the season and I think that might be too low. They won 18 games last season and they bring back all their starters and nearly the entire bench. Sorry JV guys, not much room for a spot this year, maybe next year. And sorry Red Rock opponents, this team will be tough. I am going to squeeze Southwest Minnesota Christian into this with a bit of concern with it. Will the Eagles be good? Always. They are coming off a 24-5/15-1 season but they lost four starters which will impact anybody. Trevin Prins is back though as are some reserves so we expect them to be in the mix. Just not maybe not in a 15-1 way, more like a 12-4 or 13-3 league type of way which is pretty dang good.

With Aiden Tweet returning the Dragons should be better than a six win team. How much better depends on the depth but they should be at least a bit better. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda has too many seniors this year to say their are rebuilding but I fear they are in for a similar season to last year’s 7-19 record. Hills-Beaver Creek was an 11-15 team a season ago and return their best two players. And in saying that, they are still a junior/sophomore dominated team so they look to be on the up. Beau Bakken Beau Bakken 6'4" | PF Hills-Beaver Creek | 2025 State MN at 6-foot-5 is one to really watch. Red Rock Central should take a jump again. They have four starters back and this is a group that improved by nine games last season. What jump can they make this year? A winning record for sure, but can they push towards another nine game improvement?
Murray County Central is likely the best of this bunch but I don’t know that they will crawl towards the top ten. Certainly in the upper third or upper 25th percent in Class A but they have three all league honored starters to replace. Westbrook-Walnut Grove is in somewhat of a similar spot having graduated most of their starters but they do bring back guard

Rebuilding: Edgerton
Edgerton won just once last season. They only had two guys graduate so they should be better but this team is still rebuilding.
