This article will be about the 2A/3A WESCO Conference MVP and first team selections.
MVP: Leyton Martin Leyton Martin 6'0" | PG Arlington | 2025 State WA (2025) – Arlington HS
Leyton’s game has improved so much since the beginning of last season. He is a big time playmaker and a key part of this Arlington team. There’s a good chance he will be the top scoring option and I think he will excel in his expanded role as a main option. He’s very athletic and finishes around the rim smoothly, through contact. His jump shot is consistent from everywhere on the court and he needs little space to get his shot off. Defensively, he moves his feet well and defends at a high level.
Other MVP Candidates: Jaxon Dubiel Jaxon Dubiel 6'3" | CG Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mountlake Terrace HS, Isaiah White Isaiah White 6'5" | CG Everett | 2024 State WA (2024) – Everett HS, John Floyd John Floyd 6'4" | SG Stanwood | 2024 State WA (2024) – Stanwood HS
First Team Predictions:
Leyton Martin Leyton Martin 6'0" | PG Arlington | 2025 State WA (2025) – Arlington HS – see above.
Jaxon Dubiel Jaxon Dubiel 6'3" | CG Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mountlake Terrace HS – Jaxon is a fantastic team player, always putting his teammates first. He is a pass first player but can also score at will, if that’s what the team needs. He gets to the rim smoothly and has a plethora of dribbling moves he can use on defenders. Dubiel facilitates the offense at a very high level, being a top guard in the 2024 class.
Zaveon Jones Zaveon Jones 6'2" | SF Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA (2024) – Mountlake Terrace HS – Zaveon is an undersized forward but he is strong, maybe the strongest player on the court each time he steps on it. He can play bully ball with the opposing big men and is able to use his strength and athleticism to grab boards off the glass. He has great speed and solid touch around the rim down low.
Isaiah White Isaiah White 6'5" | CG Everett | 2024 State WA (2024) – Everett HS – Isaiah is a very smooth natural scorer on the court, being able to hit mid-range and deep shots with little space. He creates his own shots at a high level and is a player who could breakout and win the MVP of this conference, in my eyes. He has very good athleticism as well, being able to defend at a high level too.
John Floyd John Floyd 6'4" | SG Stanwood | 2024 State WA (2024) – Stanwood HS – John’s game has been growing in a very positive way, becoming more well rounded on the offensive side of the ball. He creates space for himself smoothly, being able to rise above defenders when they try to contest his jumpers. He rebounds the ball well, crashing the boards often and boxing out opposing players. He is going to have a great season this year.
Arion Palacol Arion Palacol 5'11" | PG Marysville Getchell | 2025 State WA (2025) – Marysville-Getchell HS – Arion is a crafty little guard who has great speed on the court. He runs the court in transition very well, being able to fill the correct lanes with or without the ball in his hands. He shoots the ball from deep at a high rate and works off the pick and roll efficently. Palacol is a player to keep an eye on during his junior year.
