Fellow scout Lorenzo Leaks and I had the opportunity to watch much of the action from start to finish, and after sharing our own notes and conferring with a number of other observers in attendance, we have come up with our All-Expo First Team.
All-Expo First Team
If there was one player that caught the most attention of observers at the event – notably the college coaches watching – it was Barron. The 6-foot-6 junior brought out plenty of oohs and aahs from observers at the Expo with his athletic exploits – he flew in for putback slams and blocked shots above the square. Barron knocked down open threes as well and very well could have been the biggest stock riser in the gym that day.

Kilfoil was another player that grabbed the eyes of many on the sidelines at the Expo. The Jesuit junior was pretty much on fire from the outside the entire day, knocking down open jumpers but also creating off the dribble, pulling up, and getting baskets in traffic. The lefty’s ability to score in bunches was critical in his team’s success in every game.

The sole sophomore on this All-Event team, Lake played as if he were a senior. The Tualatin point guard has clearly physically matured over the off-season and while he’s bigger and stronger, he hasn’t lost any of his quickness or skills. Lake consistently got where he wanted to with the basketball, showed great touch from the perimeter, and created as much for his teammates as he did for himself.
We’ve often repeated the phrase that guys that can get multiple dunks and hit multiple threes in the same game are semi-rare in the state, but Turner continued to check those boxes at the Expo. The 6-foot-5 senior had flashes of dominance offensively in the action we watched and practically every coach we polled had him on their all-event team. Turner also showed good effort on the boards and defense in addition to his versatile offensive skills.

Perhaps the least well-known player statewide on our All-Event Team is Adams, who should be on everyone’s radar now after his performance at the Expo. The 5-foot-11 junior was arguably the top two-way competitor on the day, showing tremendous quickness on both ends of the floor. His speed and scoring ability were hard to contain on offense while his quick hands and anticipation skills on D led to multiple turnovers and easy transition buckets.
