Best of the Best – Game 2 Preview (Mt. Hood vs. SWC)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 3rd annual Best of the Best Tournament takes place at Reynolds High School this weekend, May 30 and May 31, as many of the state's top seniors will don the uniforms of their respective conferences and battle for league pride. Six of the seven 6A conferences will be represented and a 5A all-star team will round out the field in what should be a very competitive two days of games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In the second contest that will take place at 1:15 on Saturday, May 30, the Mt. Hood Conference takes on the Southwest Conference. Here's a look at that matchup.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Mt Hood Conference, coached this year by Gresham head coach Cliff White, could be the odds-on favorite when it comes to winning the event as their lineup is completely stacked with future college players. It starts with the quartet coming from Central Catholic with three D-I signees in Robbie Long (Loyola-Md.), Bam Paschal (Loyola Marymount), and Donovan Miller (Loyola Marymount), and D-II signee Jalen Nicholson (Cal State-San Marcos). If having those guys weren't enough, there's another D-II signee in Gresham swingman Kareem Artharee (Black Hills State) and a few more guys headed to the NWAC in David Douglas swingman Jackson Satterthwaite (Clackamas), Clackamas guard Augie Frantz (Linn-Benton), and Barlow forward Maddox Young (Portland CC). Clackamas forward Syrius Owens will be playing college ball at some level, Nelson guard Chaz Katoanga is pursuing football at Portland State, and high-academic Eddie Szabatin (headed to Lewis &amp; Clark for school) adds size to the frontcourt</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Southwest Conference, a late entry into the field, will be headed by Mike Marzano, and with a large contingent of Sheldon players is hoping to make some noise. From the aforementioned Irish, the team will be led by Minnesota State-Moorhead signee Kai Holmes, as well as teammates such as point guard Kai Gallic, wings Geno Marzano and Gerrit Cupp, and 6-foot-10 big man Sam Harrison.
