There were some very underrated 2024 athletes, but the underclassmen shined bright as well. Let’s take a look at some of the young star hoopers that showcased their skills.
Shyam Patel
Shyam Patel
Shyam was on fire in FB Austin’s first game against Dallas Woodrow Wilson, hitting just about every shot he took. Patel went 6-8 from three point range and 7-10 from the field total. He also kept his teammates involved all game and was a great playmaker for his team. Shyam is a hard worker and is guaranteed to give 100% percent of his energy and dedication every time he steps on the court. He made a huge splash with his recruitment over this summer as a 2025 athlete and looks to continue that momentum into the school season this year.
Jacob was a big leader for his team on the offensive end of the floor in their blowout win over CE King. Williford was a master of the midrange pullup and hit several turnaround jumpers over the defense in the Mustangs victory. Jacob went 4-5 from the midrange game and hit 3-6 from three point land as well to extend the lead in crunch time. Williford also crashed the boards and came down with several rebounds, making a big impact at both ends.
Demorae Pritchett
Demorae Pritchett
Demorae was a big time contributor in the Bulldogs win over Lufkin on Saturday afternoon. Pritchett made his presence known on the offensive side, just completely dominating his matchup, and scoring from all three levels. He drove to the basket with ease, hit several open looks from long distance, and also converted several and ones at the rim. Demorae went 10-13 total from the field and also came down with about 6 or 7 rebounds. He also showed the ability to be a willing passer, never hesitating to sling the ball to an open teammate for a good look at the basket. Demorae is one of the highly underrated prospects I have been able to watch and his stock has taken off since the middle of this summer.
Chase Wilson
Chase Wilson
Chase poured in a huge contribution for the Mustangs off the bench in their afternoon game. He hit several open threes from the corner and always knew the right spot to be in on the floor where his teammates could hit him in rhythm and secure an easy bucket. Wilson showed several bright spots where he was able to score and also dime teammates off a pick and roll screen as well as notch some impressive steals on the defensive end. Chase went 3-4 on corner threes and dished out 5 assists in the dominant win.
