Drew looks ready to step into an expanded role this season for Wayzata. He has the strength to play inside, but is mobile enough to play on the perimeter as a wing depending on what type of lineup Wayzata puts on the floor. Against Totino-Grace he made big plays in the second half, most of which were the result of hard off-ball cuts. Drew beat his man backdoor multiple times, and had some strong finishes at the rim against a team filled with size and athleticism. He’s also shown he’s a reliable shooter from beyond the arc.

Jalen Langsy Jalen Langsy 5’11” | PG Shakopee | 2024 State MN is one of those guys who can create a good shot just about any time he wants to. Against Hopkins he did a great job of changing speeds and utilizing shot fakes to get to his spots and knockdown jumpers. He’s always been known as a knockdown shooter from three, but against Hopkins he was just as effective from mid-range. Can come to a stop on two feet and create with his footwork as well. Defensively he was fighting over screens and pressuring the ball hard to slow down a high powered Hopkins offense in the second half.
Not many players in the state can match the shiftiness that Hamze has. He has a lighting quick crossover, and combined with his change-of-direction defenders had a tough time staying in front of him on Sunday. He torched a shorthanded Lakeville South team in the second half as he was just running circles around the defense at times. Hamze is also a crafty finisher who can finish with touch off the glass or slow up for a floater over the top of size.

As just an 8th grader, Tre was playing heavy minutes for Hopkins against Shakopee. Defensively he didn’t look out of place at all, as he’s a high level athlete with elite lateral quickness at his age. Tre was able to apply pressure on the ball even against one of the deepest backcourts in the state. Offensively he showed he can hit the outside shot, and hit a key three down the stretch that gave his team a chance. Hopkins came up short in the end, but it was a promising performance from the 2028 guard.
Jonathan looks to have once again made a jump heading into the high school season. Last season he broke out at the varsity level, and based on Eastview’s game against Edina he looks to be more of a perimeter threat this year. Mekonnen hit some jumpers off the dribble and was beating his man consistently off the dribble to get to the rim. He excels at just pinning his man on his hip and then exploding off two feet to finish right at the rim. Defensively he limited one of the better 2025 bigs in the state all while providing a major rebounding presence for his team. Even played some point-forward at times bringing the ball up and getting his team into their offense. Eastview has to replace a lot from last year’s team, but Jonathan’s maturity and productivity should once again keep them competitive.
Once again Kaden impressed with his ability to rebound the ball as a guard. He has a strong frame and does a nice job of consistently finding a body to box out after a shot goes up. Showcased the explosive burst to quickly elevate and secure missed shots with two hands at his highest point. On the offensive end he plays an unselfish brand of basketball, and attempts high percentage looks at the rim. Plays off two feet which allows him to keep his balance and power up to finish through some contact. Helped lead Shakopee to a win over Hopkins.
Highlights
Kamryn will be one of those players who could potentially step into a big role for a reloading Eastview team. He has length on the wing and is a fluid athlete who can weave in-and-out of traffic in the open floor. Showcased his explosiveness with some dunks on the next court over in one game, and then against Edina he was able to glide to the rim for some smooth finishes. With how well he moves at his size he’s able to defend multiple spots on the floor, which will help if Eastview decides to go with a big lineup on the floor.
