LAS VEGAS — Bishop Gorman, Coronado and other Vegas-area high schools played host to one of the premier high school/prep school basketball events of the year over the weekend. The Border League brought teams from across the country to Southern Nevada for a three-day event which was loaded with top team and individual matchups. In this piece we take a closer look at the top performing scoring guards from the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1089572' first='Daquan' last='Davis'], 2024, Overtime Elite (GA)

Davis epitomizes the "three level scorer" term with his jump shooting ability setting up drive and finish and mid-range pull-up game. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has great feel and pace off the dribble and understands when and how to get to his his spots off the bounce. This is a piece on best "scoring" guards but Davis separates himself from others with his defensive intensity and effort.

Demarco Johnson, 2025, Southern California Academy

Johnson is a player who can get hot in a hurry and score in bunches from multiple areas of the floor. The long, wiry 6-foot-3 guard is a shifty ball handler with three-point shooting and a consistent mid-range pull-up jumper. Johnson has an aggressive scoring mentality and is a guy who forgets his last miss.

[player_tooltip player_id='1146670' first='John' last='Southwick'], 2025, Salt Lake Academy (UT)

Southwick is a pure off-ball scoring guard whose jump shot is his main source of offense. His ability to move without hte ball, use screens to create space from defenders and the lift he gets on his mid-range and three-point jump shot are the traits that stood out. The 6-foot-3 junior has seen his recruitment pick up over the last few months with multiple mid to high-major offers under his belt.

[player_tooltip player_id='1369817' first='Josiah' last='Sanders'], 2025, Colorado Prep (CO)

Sanders is a guy who fits the "wired to score" mold. The 6-foot-4 lefty thrives in open court settings where he slashes his way to the rim, and uses his strong frame, for physical paint finishes. Sanders is also a consistent three-point shooter off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502768' first='Mercy' last='Miller'], 2024, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame

Miller has established himself as one of the best scorers in the country and his performance at Border League only solidified that. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has every shot and scoring move in his arsenal which allows him to create offense for himself in every situation imaginable. Miller is a knockdown perimeter shooter both off the catch and off the dribble and perhaps his best quality is his ability to play at his pace without getting sped up by pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782699' first='Quincy' last='Wadley'], 2026, Bishop O'Connell (VA)

Wadley is one of the top sophomore prospects in the country and it was easy to see why. The rangy 6-foot-5 off-guard is a smooth and fluid athlete whose catch and shoot and off the bounce jumpers are as effortless as they come. Wadley is a great floor spacer but can also put the ball on the floor and create offense at the mid-range level with floaters and pull-up jumpers.
