Southwick with a huge commitment as he has decided to stay home and play for Utah valley University. He is not only an elite shooter but the kids defends his butt off. Southwick was instrumental in Utah Prep beating previous #1 team in the country. Southwick can catch the ball similar to JJ Reddick off of pin-downs and in transition. the did is shooting in the high 40% and that is with huge players tracking him and defending him. He can get hiss hot off at the d1 level better than almost anyone in the country at his size.

Southwick might be the best shooter in the state and teams are coming to the realization late here. His jumper is high and with a high finish he is able to finish above longer defenders. He continues to pick up interest ashe racked up an offer from Utah Valley as of late. He could be a kid that ends up getting away from the local schools but with his shooting ability he is a player that will find a way to get on the court.
Southwick is also rare in that he not only can shoot the ball but he is one of the best on ball defenders and he understands defensive concepts off the ball. His handle has improved over the years and he still has room to improve.

Southwick is very highly ranked by us because he is a winner and he is clutch. In a game that was wire to wire he hit two big three-pointers to really seal the deal. There might be bigger players out there that can rack up D1 offer but this kid finds ways and he shoots at such a high percentage. He was clutch all weekend.

Southwick continues to maintain as one of the best shooters in the country. If you give him time he will hurt and if you don’t help off of him you put your defense in a bad spot. His elevation on his jump shot is elite and he is a player that can come in right away to a school and light it up.

Southwick is a shooter who impressed with a good shooting performance against ETG Midwest. He plays on a very talented Utah Prospects squad who are the defending 3SSB Champions and are 6-3 through two sessions, so he doesn’t have the ball in his hands often but is expected to knock shots down when it is. John did have good volume in that matchup with ETG, showing his quick release, activity off the ball, and ability to shoot with his feet set or on the move. Apart from his shooting, Southwick is also comfortable making plays when run off the dribble and plays off two feet, and works hard to stay in front of his man on defense.

Best shooter in the state as John continues to rise. His defense is elite and he is a big time shot maker. He draws a lot of attention because of his shooting but the most impressive aspect of his game is that he can get his shots off against anyone. He is often guarded by players much bigger than him and it really doesn’t matter, he is going to light them up. He moves well without the ball and he knows how to use angles to get open. Has a few D1 offers but can truly play at a very high level D1 the way that he shoots.
