Then, looking ahead, most fall leagues don’t start until October. However, the lull in action here as the school year gets into full swing doesn’t mean that the content and coverage stops. That is exactly what separates Prep Hoops Indiana from our competition.
After the grassroots season we updated all of our prospect rankings here at Prep Hoops Indiana. We now have a Top 50 in the Class of 2026, a Top 125 in the Class of 2025, and a Top 150 in the Class of 2024. Additionally, there are nearly 500 total prospects on the three respective Watch Lists and we will soon add nearly 200 prospects to the Class of 2027 Watch List coming out of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. There will likely be another rankings update before the high school season begins, but first we thought this would be a good time to try a new exercise. Over the next week or so we will be releasing our Top 50 prospects regardless of class in the state of Indiana.
All prospect rankings are hard to do and a very inexact science. That becomes even more true when embarking on a journey like this trying to rank them regardless of class. Do you value the “known” commodity of an older prospect or the “upside” of a younger prospect more? For the sake of this exercise, we tended to lean towards the older guys. Also, we only included IHSAA players in this ranking and didn’t include the incoming freshmen besides one who is very well known as a top prospect. Without further ado, let’s dive in and give this try!
One of the top prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2026, Miller really came on strong towards the end of the summer and put together an excellent showing at the Peach Jam with Indy Heat 15u. The 6’6″ forward is very versatile on the offensive end of the floor and rebounds at a high level. His best basketball is definitely ahead of him.
Highlights
One of the prospects we are very high on here at Prep Hoops Indiana, Harrell is poised for a breakout sophomore season for a young, but talented Carmel squad. At 6’7″ he has excellent height and length to pair with his guard-like skill. College programs up to the high-major level are going to want to be involved sooner rather than later with this guy.
Highlights
Murphy Jr. is on his way to becoming the all-time leading scorer at the storied East Chicago Central High School. The 6’5″ guard has great size on the perimeter and plays with a real aggressiveness on the offensive end. Quite simply, he knows how to score the basketball from just about anywhere on the floor.
Townsend is such a physically gifted presence on the perimeter. He handles the ball like a point guard but has the strength and physicality of a forward. The 6’5″ guard simply dominates defenders off of the dribble with his size and plays right through your chest on the way to the rim. There have been a couple of Division I programs extend offers recently.
You will be hardly pressed to find many prospects with a higher pure skill level in Indiana’s Class of 2025. Konieczny received a couple of Division I offers over the summer after playing with Indy Heat 16u. He is an excellent shooter, both off of the catch and the dribble, handles the ball well at 6’4″, and is a fluid athlete.
