Then, looking ahead, most fall leagues don’t start until October. However, the lull in action here as the school year gets into full swing doesn’t mean that the content and coverage stops. That is exactly what separates Prep Hoops Indiana from our competition.
After the grassroots season we updated all of our prospect rankings here at Prep Hoops Indiana. We now have a Top 50 in the Class of 2026, a Top 125 in the Class of 2025, and a Top 150 in the Class of 2024. Additionally, there are nearly 500 total prospects on the three respective Watch Lists and we will soon add nearly 200 prospects to the Class of 2027 Watch List coming out of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. There will likely be another rankings update before the high school season begins, but first we thought this would be a good time to try a new exercise. Over the next week or so we will be releasing our Top 50 prospects regardless of class in the state of Indiana.
All prospect rankings are hard to do and a very inexact science. That becomes even more true when embarking on a journey like this trying to rank them regardless of class. Do you value the “known” commodity of an older prospect or the “upside” of a younger prospect more? For the sake of this exercise, we tended to lean towards the older guys. Also, we only included IHSAA players in this ranking and didn’t include the incoming freshmen besides one who is very well known as a top prospect. Without further ado, let’s dive in and give this try!
Early in the spring Gustin picked up a couple of Division I offers which turned heads across the state. The 6’7″ forward has always had a ton of upside, but that potential met production over the last year which led to his recruitment really heating up. Gustin is a good athlete and has gotten significantly stronger of late which has helped him as a finisher, rebounder, and defender. There is still a ton of upside to his game and it is very likely that his best basketball are years ahead of him.

There aren’t many, if any, guards in the state of Indiana who are faster end-to-end with the ball than this Lawrence North guard. Bowles is incredibly explosive both with his quickness and when elevating to finish through traffic at the rim. He is improving as a shooter, but still at his best when using his dynamic playmaking ability to get into the paint. At this point he is one of top candidates for “deserves more offers” campaign that comes around for a couple of seniors every winter.

When it comes to pure scoring, this 5’7″ Evansville Bosse guard is as good as it gets in Indiana’s Class of 2024. Howell put up 23.2 points per game as a junior and is one of the best shooters you’ll find in the Evansville area. His recruitment has started to pick up over the summer. If you are in need of a dynamic scorer who can fill it up in a hurry your program should be recruiting Howell.
Few did more for their recruitment over the summer than this versatile 6’6″ forward out of Fishers High School. Garner came over from Germany to play his junior season at Fishers and was an important piece to their success. Then, over the summer, he played his way into a couple of Division I and high-level NAIA offers with his well-rounded offensive skill set. He is strong, mobile, and good with the ball in his hands. Look for him to take on a much expanded role as a senior for the Tigers.
Betten has become highly sought after already by the Crossroads League with several offers including a very recent one from powerhouse Indiana Wesleyan. The versatile, athletic 6’6″ forward from Manchester High School was excellent all summer long with Grand Park Premier 16u on the UAA Circuit proving himself against some high-level competition. His ability to score both out on the perimeter and around the basket makes him very hard to guard. Intriguing long-term prospect that keeps getting better.
