With that comes some added excitement to gyms across the country as Division I coaches are allowed to be out evaluating high school prospects. With five different events in the greater Indianapolis area alone, it is going to be a very hectic (but also very fun) weekend. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana had boots on the ground coverage from tip-off until the final buzzer. Let’s take a look at six prospects from the Hoosier state that stood out on Friday.
Admittedly, we did not watch Cooper Bock Cooper Bock 6’6″ | PF Sullivan | 2026 State IN and the Indiana Jammers 16u play this evening. However, when you received a direct message that simply states “ Cooper Bock Cooper Bock 6’6″ | PF Sullivan | 2026 State IN may have scored 40 tonight” it deserves to be mentioned. The super athletic 6’6″ forward has had a great summer and has a chance to really break out in the coming months. Love his game and am not surprised at all that he had a big night.
Highlights
It was another impressive performance for Guess who continues to have a great spring. The 6’6″ forward from Warren Central High School certainly does not shy away from physicality inside. He is able to bang with opposing big men inside or face up and use his quick feet and athleticism to drive it at his defender. Love his non-stop motor at both ends on the glass.
The first game of the day came at Noon just as the live period got underway and we were in the gym to watch Darius Garland Elite 16u take on a talented Team Breakdown squad. DGE held on for a 58-55 win in large part due to how Terrence Hayes Terrence Hayes 6’1″ | PG Gary 21st Century | 2026 State IN Jr. handled the ball against relentless pressure. The Gary 21st Century product went on to score 13 points while manning the majority of the ball handling duties in the impressive victory.
There was a good amount of buzz among the low and mid-major Division I coaches watching George Hill All Indy 17u on Friday afternoon about this 6’4″ scorer from Anderson High School. Whether it was from the mid-range or beyond the arc, King was making shots from a variety of levels. His size and physicality on the perimeter really sets him apart from other talented scorers like him.
This 6’2″ guard from Valparaiso High School had his shot-making ability on full display Friday afternoon as he helped lead Indy Heat 17u to a come from behind victory over All Ohio Red. Smiley had an impressive stretch that included a catch-and-shoot deep two from the corner, a tough step back in the opposite corner, and then a pull-up from around the free throw line in transition. He is very skilled with the ball in his hands and is a high percentage shooter.
Rhodes handled the ball really well against a very athletic, bigger, heavy-pressure team on Saturday afternoon. The smaller guard from Crown Point High School more than held his own while helping lead Darius Garland Elite 16u to a hard-fought 58-55 win over Team Breakdown.
