One of the real stars from Session II of the IBCA Top 100 Showcase, Townsend played his way into an offer from Eastern Illinois after an excellent showing. Well known for his strong built at 6’6″ and physicality off of the dribble, Townsend also really shoots the ball well from beyond the arc and in the mid-range which he had working on Friday. His ability to make jump shots at his size makes it really difficult for opposing defenses to match up. Definitely one that low and mid-major programs should continue to watch closely throughout the month of July.

Arguably the most impressive prospect in the gym at Anderson University on Friday, Townsend went off for a game-high 24 points in Game Two as his Team Red squad won 100-81. Townsend also finished with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the game. The physical, 6’6″ wing was just too much for the opposition to handle off of the dribble as he consistently got downhill to the rim and finished inside. Look for his recruitment to really heat up in the month of July.

You really can’t ask for better physical tools in a wing than what Townsend possesses. The 6’6″ Marion High School product is built like a NFL player and had it working for Darius Garland Elite on Saturday night score a game-high 20 points in a tough, two-point loss. Townsend has an excellent pull-up game for his size, handles the ball well, and also connected on three three-point shots. Definite take for low-major programs and should be closely evaluated by mid-majors.
