Throughout the next few days, myself and Jeremy Brooks will be running through some of the standout performers from the event, and providing full evaluations of every player in attendance. This article will take a look at each player from Team 7.
A bouncy and tough 6-0 guard, LeMoine rebounds the ball really well for a perimeter-oriented player, pounding the glass on both ends of the floor. After pulling down defensive rebounds he looks to push the tempo and will take it coast-to-coast if the defense doesn’t stop him, or find open teammates if they do. He’s a great finisher around the rim, showing impressive body control and the ability to finish through contact. He shoots it well off the catch with a quick, smooth release. Like any PV guard, he’s a really good on-ball defender who moves his feet, coaches his teammates through screens, and is able to battle against bigger bodies in the paint.
Highlights
Snyder got overshadowed at times on this team, which was loaded, but he made some good plays on both ends of the floor, flashing his potential as a two-way wing. He looks to attack hard closeouts off the dribble, getting into the teeth of the defense where he can either finish or find an open teammate. He has good length and gets into passing lanes, and he appears to be well-coached on that end of the floor, rotating and talking constantly.
A 6-5/6-6 combo forward, I think that Davis can provide an awful lot of value was a versatile defender who can defend nearly every position on the floor at the high school level. He uses his length to contest shots, is a mobile forward who moves his feet, and communicates well. He runs the floor hard and gets to the rim in transition, is capable of leading the break after pulling down a defensive rebound, and looks like he can stretch the floor with his jumper. With his blend of size, length, IQ, and athleticism, he’ll certainly be a name to keep an eye on over the next three years at Northwest.
Highlights
Hoyt is an active defender with good length at 6-3 who does a good job contesting shots on the perimeter without fouling. He showed good footwork and quick hands on the defensive end, picking the pocket of opposing ball-handlers a few times, leading to transition opportunities. Like Snyder, he didn’t touch the ball a ton, but he showed the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim for finishes through contact when he was looking to attack.
