Hanson is a smaller combo guard who plays with great pace and knocks down shots with ease when left open. He’s not rushed when defenders press up into him and handles the ball tightly and with consistency. He makes good passes and lots of good next ones to swing the ball. Solid jump shooter as well, hitting the open ones and being selective with the shots he takes. Should be in line for an expanded role at Bradford Prep.

Quebedeaux was solid as he normally is when I’ve seen him play, knocking down shots and looking to get his teammates involved. He’s got a quirky release on his jumper with his feet placement, but it’s a stroke that goes down at a high clip and efficiently. He also is shifty and smaller, allowing him to thread through defenses and dump off passes to his teammates for easy layups. Defense is somewhere where he could continue to improve, but being a small guard makes that naturally more difficult. I’ll be intrigued to see how he slots in with powerhouse TBS this season.

Stalker is a valuable asset to any team, as he showed this weekend for his group. He did all the little things that don’t show up in the stat sheet, but made a big difference that caught my eyes. He’s a good rebounder, defender, and passer, and also a willing hustler and always plays hard. He’s the kind of guy who needs to be coveted by coaches because of his team-first mentality and sense of knowing how to take a backseat in order for his team to win. We’ll see how he impacts his team at Eastern Randolph.
Vaughan Curtin
Vaughan Curtin
Curtin has some size to him, but he’s not frail or afraid of contact. In fact, I’d depend on him to be my team’s consistent finisher and post player. He showed a lot of strength and toughness playing down low or driving the ball, not being punked or pushed off his spots as he looks to finish at the rim. He has skill and craftiness to finish, with a bigger finishing bag than just a simple right handed or left handed layup. Curtin will be a physical presence down low for West Iredell this upcoming year.
Sam Streeter
Sam Streeter
Streeter is a strong, sturdy wing prospect that is still making strides to improve his game as he heads into his senior year. He’s a tweener who is good at getting to the cup and finishing around the rim with both finesse and power. I liked the way he was unselfish, distributing the ball to open teammates and not letting it stick. He is a capable shooter at times, and really does well when he has confidence and believes in his ability. Hopefully he will put together a nice senior year and find interest with college coaches.
I highlighted Sutherland in my preview article before the showcase, and he delivered, showcasing his immense rim protection talent as well as a developing perimeter game. He patrolled the paint with ease, swatting shots off the glass and showing good discipline on the ball to stay down and not give up cheap fouls in the name of trying to get a flashy block. He was working on his jumpshot during the games, and knocked down a couple jumpers and worked hard to get open. He’ll be a big piece for UFCA this senior year and should be a target for LM to MM coaches.
Dobyns is slender, but a still developing, scary future prospect at SW Guilford. He’s 6’6 and super long, where he can be a nightmare in space and on the defensive end. He swallows up ball handlers and has athleticism to guard the ball even if they’re smaller or quicker than him. Offensively he’s a slasher, looking to dunk everything and get to the basket. He will need to devote intensity to the weight room and bulking up, but he is young and you can see the potential he has to be a game breaker. Expect a big sophomore year from him.

Marcos Papis
Marcos Papis
Papis was a good addition to his group this weekend and did a bit of everything. He is a skilled passer who can find open teammates and create scoring opportunities. He’s also a strong finisher around the rim, and he isn’t afraid to take contact. In addition, he has the intangibles to succeed at a high level like toughness and leadership.. This player is a winner, and he will do whatever it takes to help his team win.
