We had the opportunity to watch camp in its entirety and after taking in all of the action and talking to a number of others who watched as well, we have come up with our five member All-Camp Team for in-state participants.
Aidan Rice Aidan Rice 6'2" | PG Beaverton | 2024 State OR (2024 Beaverton)
The name we had down and heard from everyone as potentially the best player in the building was Rice. The Beaverton senior guard has not only added strength but athleticism to his game and it showed with some of his quick drives and tough finishes at the hoop, including one thunderous one-handed slam during the games that drew plenty of oohs and ahhs. He hasn’t lost anything off his jumper either as he was on fire from deep as well. Rice left a little early to get to some fall league games but even though he missed one game he was so spectacular that he still more than earned All-Camp team honors.
Dylan Westermeyer Dylan Westermeyer 6'6" | SF Oregon City | 2024 State OR (2024 Oregon City)
Westermeyer got off to a quick start in the drills and 1-on-1 competition where he was draining three-pointer after three-pointer. The lefty wasn’t just settling for jumpshots either as he was tough getting to the hoop and finishing strong. The Oregon City senior’s added strength has allowed him to be a better rebounder and defender as well and he was arguably the best wing player at camp.
Jacey Canalin Jacey Canalin 5'7" | PG Wells | 2024 State OR (2024 Wells)
The top pure point guard we saw at camp, Canalin by our count led everyone in assists. The Wells senior was constantly looking for the open man in half-court sets or in transition and used his crafty dribble and moves to get around defenders to create. While the outside shot wasn’t particularly clicking, he did a great job finishing drives around the hoop and his full-court defensive pressure led to a number of turnovers by the opponent.
Charlie Kapranos (2024 Grant)
Playing both inside and out, Kapranos played physical as always and owned the interior with multiple buckets inside on offense and bodied people up on D. But where the 6-foot-5 forward also shone was with his shot as in the games he caught fire from three-point range with a couple of them coming as he nailed some catch-and-shoot as the trailer on the break. An outstanding interior passer, he piled up some assists as well.
Cole Holum Cole Holum 6'9" | PF Lakeridge | 2024 State OR (2024 Lakeridge)
The 6-foot-7 Lakeridge senior was arguably the top big man in the gym and he set the tone in the drills, finishing with authority with a number of powerful two-handed slams. He ran the floor extremely well as a rim runner and was a force on the boards on both ends. Offensively in the games he didn’t get as many touches, but when he did he showed off a smooth face-up jumper and some ball skills to create and get to the rack.
