High School Spotlight: Portage Indians

In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. At 6'6, he is Capable of shooting out to mid-range and very mobile around the basket for his size. He earned Indiana Junior All-Star honors last season at Portage as well as being invited to the Kyle Guy Elite 24 Camp and played with some of the best players in the 2024 class. He is good on the roll or when rim-running in transition. He saw a major boost in the Prep Hoops 2024 Rankings due to his work this summer. A name you should get familar with you haven't already because he will have a strong senior season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='1578442' first='Michael' last='Wellman']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wellman is an intriguing wing option for Portage this season. Wellman led the Indians in scoring at 14.4 points per game while adding 5.6 rebounds as a sophomore. He is a versatile forward that is physical, skilled, and knows how to play. Has good size on the wing at 6'4 and pairs so well with Johnson for Portage.
