Next, we will be headlining with our top five shooting guards in the Class of 2026. Our latest rankings for the sophomore class have been updated on our website.
The 6-5 sophomore guard made a lot of headlines this summer when he announced he is transferring from Grayson (Georgia) to national powerhouse Montverde Academy. Allen is a high IQ guard who can initiate the offense as well as run the primary point guard position. He is a capable scorer who can knock down shots across all three levels as well as defend at a high level. Allen currently holds offers from Arizona State, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
The 6-3 sophomore shooting guard is an impressive scorer who can impact the game in a variety of ways. Bass Jr. is one of the few left-handed shooters in the state and has a knack for knocking down tough, contested shots. He also has a knack where he can score off the catch as well as off the bounce. On the defensive end, he plays with a ton of physicality and is an underrated rebounder for his size.
The 6-5 sophomore guard has very good intangibles in running the off-ball guard position on the defensive end. Russell is quick and athletic where he can guard against the perimeter or on the interior contesting tough shots. He is a perennial shot blocker and rebounder on the defensive end where he is quick to get the basketball in transition. He is a highly touted football recruit who holds offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn and several others.
The 6-7 rising sophomore wing has one of the smoothest games I’ve seen for the upcoming sophomore class, as he can score on all three levels. He brings athleticism and length on both ends of the floor where he can be dominant on the glass. Hammermeister can often at times play the 2-guard position and shoot it from the perimeter at a respectable percentage. Hammermeister will look to play a big role for The Villages this upcoming season where they are led with a youthful core in the front court.
The 6-4 rising sophomore shooting guard can display a variety of talents while out on the basketball court, whether it’s his attack for the rim or his persistent passing. Palmer has a great feel for the game and has a high IQ when the basketball is in his hands. He is a sneaky athlete who can score in a variety of ways and is unafraid to attack the rim finishing against bigger defenders. Remember this name as he will be a key player in the North Florida area for the next three years.
