Continue Reading2025 is an extremely exciting class of basketball, let alone athletes. In fact, I believe it’s one of the best classes of athletes to come through WV in quite some time. As far as basketball goes it seems to have everything, great guards, long athletic wings and the oh so rare, long skilled bigs. These top four have stood out in their school and AAU seasons when I’ve been able to see them in person, while the others have had great tape, stats and look to gain attention from college coaches soon.

Zane Saunders Zane Saunders 6’7″ | PF South Charleston | 2025 State WV ends the summer with being possibly the most intriguing big of the 2025 class and maybe WV. His size and athleticism have been on display for the last several months and landed his name on a lot of college coach watch lists. Saunders landed himself a Big Shots All Star team honoree as well as being a “Top Performer” recognized by Big Shots at the WV Summer Showdown event, as well as an MVP award at the Myrtle Beach Live event weeks prior. Look for his name to be talked about a lot through school season and start getting offers soon.
TD Bodkins TD Bodkins 6’5″ | SF Philip Barbour | 2025 State WV is quickly becoming a household name in WV high school athletics. An outstanding football player as well as basketball and put together several solid performances throughout the spring and summer with Ronnie Nuzum’s WV Reign Elite while on the Big Shots circuit. A strong body and broad skillset are what Bodkins brings to the table, as well as a relentless rebounder and solid shooter from 3. Bodkins may have to make the choice between football and basketball for his choice to play at the next level as he excels in both.
Preston Luzader Preston Luzader 6’7″ | C Clay Battelle | 2025 State WV is the best small school big in the 2025 and the second-best small school big in WV behind Zion Blevins Zion Blevins 6’7″ | PF Chapmanville | 2024 State WV . Luzader was able to show his skills during last year’s state tournament appearance and help lead his team on a deep run. He simply does the basics well, rebounds, great defensive positioning and put backs at high efficiency. Look for him to dominate his position and put up big double double numbers in the coming season. D3’s and some MEC’s should be courting him soon.

Landon Poniatowski Landon Poniatowski 6’5″ | C Nitro | 2025 State WV is one of the best kept secrets in the class of 2025. This post player averaged just under a double double as a sophomore in one of the state’s most competitive conferences. His solid post play as well as above average passer from high and low post make him a huge asset offensively. Couple that with a great nose for the ball to rebound at a high rate on both ends and you have a rising star. Small colleges should discover this prospect soon.
