Continue ReadingOver the past 6-7 months I have attended around 20 AAU/Showcase events across the country. The 2023 PH Indiana Freshman Showcase was one of the biggest and most loaded events, talent wise, that I have been apart of all year. Over 200+ players from all across the state came to participate and show what they could do against other alike players, that are their own age. Below I am going to highlight a few more athletes that stuck to me on Sunday. Displaying their great “feel” for the game while producing on both sides of the floor.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
#10 – Bles’sed Thomas Bles’sed Thomas 5'11" | PG Pike | 2027 IN – 5’11 – PG – Pike H.S. – Indy Heat AAU
Thomas is a crafty and skilled navigator on the floor. Someone that can bring the ball down the court and have his team set up in their offense or he can create something out of nowhere in the blink of an eye. He is a hard worker on both sides of the floor while never taking possessions off. One of those players that’s endurance helps him stick with his opponents for the duration of a contest, eventually giving him an advantage later on when everyone else is exhausted. This is a player with a lot of promise from what I saw on Sunday.
#896 – Jackson Gordon Jackson Gordon 6'8" | C Brownsburg | 2027 IN – 6’6 – F/C – Brownsburg H.S. – Indiana Elite AAU
An individual that displayed a great combination of size and promise on Sunday was Jackson Gordon Jackson Gordon 6'8" | C Brownsburg | 2027 IN . Gordon stands at around 6’6 while going into his freshman year at Brownsburg high school. Even with his size at this age, Gordon does a great job of moving down the floor in good time. He isn’t sluggish in any movements and is very good at cleaning up the glass on both sides of the ball. With his composition of size, skill, and athleticism, it’s not crazy to think that Jackson could turn into something special over his next 4 years. If he grows a little bit more and works on the correct things moving forward, he is going to be a guy to know throughout the state of Indiana at the forward/center position.
#615 – Landon Reed Landon Reed 6'1" | SG Floyd Central | 2027 IN – 6’1 – PG/SG – Floyd Central H.S. – Rondo Elite AAU
It’s hard to determine where Reed will play on a high school court in my opinion. In one hand, Reed can create off of the dribble in the blink of an eye, wether its for himself or not. In the other hand, Reed is also pretty darn good at scoring the ball at an even and consistent rate. So I’m assuming his placement will be determined by the players around him, which means one thing. Reed just needs to trust in his work and worry about himself. If he does that, he is going to be very successful over the next 4 years of high school ball. Not to mention, this weekend that he also displayed a good sense of IQ and knowledge of the game, something that was the deciding factor in some of his teams victories.
#756 – Blake Hammond Blake Hammond 6'3" | SG Terre Haute North | 2027 IN – 6’3 – CG – Terre Haute North H.S. – Indiana Jammers AAU
Want to talk about a player with a physical build and a lot of athleticism, then look no further as next we have Blake Hammond Blake Hammond 6'3" | SG Terre Haute North | 2027 IN . Hammond stands at 6’3 with some muscle mass to go along with it and some major bounce. He is physically bigger than a lot of kids on the floor, giving him a consistent advantage each game. On Sunday, Hammond was a standout. A game changer. Someone to know. He let his game do the talking and it spoke volumes to everyone watching. There aren’t going to be many guards who can stay with Hammond this year athletically, no matter what school he plays at. If he can keep up working on his skill-set while combining that with his god-given talents, he could be a college level player at the end of the day but we will just have to wait and see.
#897 – Makale Price Makale Price 6'7" | C Penn | 2027 IN – 2027 – 6’7 – F/C – Penn H.S. – Indy Heat AAU
Makale Price Makale Price 6'7" | C Penn | 2027 IN is a player that I featured in my article about live notes yesterday but I wanted to go a little more in depth about Price’s game. Price looks like a grown man. A player that if I were to line him up with a college team for a photo, you’d never be able to guess that he was a class of 2027 player from the high school level. Price’s height at 6’7 is accompanied by a lot of muscle mass and raw potential on the court. He does a good job of using his size to his advantage whenever he can, without causing too much trouble for himself. Defensively he is a game changer. Someone who will averaged multiple blocks per game in high school by the looks of it. He is not only big, he is disciplined and understands timing. Those 3 things alone could take him places. Like I said, it would shock me if Price doesn’t see a varsity floor this winter. They always say you can’t teach size, and it’s true, you really can’t. This situation is a perfect example of that.
