1.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1376711' first='Coy' last='Kipper'] (Pleasant Valley) - 168 assists

A tough guard who really gets after it on the defensive end, Kipper puts his teammates in prime scoring positions routinely as the Spartans' lead guard. He looks to push the tempo when the opening is there, and does a great job leading this team offensively, getting them through their sets and finding his open teammates.

2.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171658' first='Trovary' last='Cavil'] (Johnston) - 152*

Cavil is able to routinely get by defenders with his blend of speed and ball-handling, which is part of the reason he was also atop the returning scorers list. Playing alongside a number of talented athletes this winter at Johnston, he could see his assist numbers skyrocket even more.

3.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171661' first='Redek' last='Born'] (Norwalk) - 118

A high IQ player with good size, the future Northern Iowa guard is unique in the fact that he's willing to take a smaller defender down onto the block, inverting the offense and giving defenses different looks to contend with. He sees the floor extremely well and is a gifted scoring threat from all three levels.

4.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1288923' first='Luke' last='Winkel'] (Centennial) - 118

Winkel is coming off a spectacular junior year as both a scorer and playmaker for the Jaguars, leading the team in both categories. He's a quick guard who can get to the rim seemingly at will, and he does a great job getting the defense to collapse and then finding open teammates.

5.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171683' first='Mason' last='Costello'] (Waukee) - 104

Before last season, Costello was more known as a scorer, but on last year's Waukee team, they needed him to be more of a playmaker, and he was great in that role. At 6-3/6-4, he has the size to see over most of the players trying to defend him, he sees the floor well, and he's a creative passer. Following a number of graduation losses, he may step into more of a scoring role again as a senior, but the additional playmaking that he showcased as a junior will certainly help him at the next level.

6.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1751107' first='Treshaun' last='Brooks'] (Marshalltown) - 94

A quick, athletic 6-0 guard, Brooks was really good in the primary playmaking role for the Bobcats last season, averaging 9.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. Following losses to graduation and transfer, he may need to be a bigger scorer as a senior.

7.) 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1381422' first='Curtis' last='Stinson Jr'] (Valley) - 85

It should come as no surprise that the son of former Iowa State star point guard Curtis Stinson finds himself on a list like this. A big, physical guard with a tremendous feel for the game, he's able to bully smaller defenders on his way to the bucket, and he uses his superior size to see the floor and get his teammates involved at a high clip. He's an efficient, high IQ guard who limits turnovers and plays outstanding defense.

8.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1178729' first='Jaden' last='Jones'] (Dallas Center-Grimes) - 84

One of two DCG players on this list, Jones is much like his older brother Jackson, a do-it-all wing with good size who makes winning plays and does everything his team needs from him. He uses his size to see over the defense, is a willing passer who looks to keep the ball moving, and is a really good all-around defender.

9.) 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1759907' first='Tate' last='Perrin'] (Dallas Center-Grimes) - 80

Perrin stepped into the primary ball-handling role last season for the Mustangs and excelled as a sophomore, posting a 3.08 assist-to-turnover ratio in the tough Little Hawkeye Conference. His ability to control the tempo and get his teammates involved will be vital for a DCG team with their sights on reaching the 4A state tournament for the first time.

10.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1751175' first='Davante' last='Bradford'] (Davenport West) - 74

A talented 6-3 wing who sees the floor well, Bradford will have the ball in his hands even more this winter following the transfer of [player_tooltip player_id='1288916' first='Cailen' last='Shadrick'] and the tragic death of [player_tooltip player_id='1376725' first='Jermilyn' last='Gardner']. He averaged 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists a game as a junior for the Falcons.
