Jones is a dynamic point guard who had a bit of varsity experience last year at Grace Christian of Sanford, but had another big AAU summer and is poised for a big year. He’s a smooth point guard that is multi-faceted in the ways he impacts the game, whether its attacking for himself or for teammates. He’s smooth off the bounce, beating defenders hips and getting to the cup. Very good at finishing once he gets there. Also able to fling passes and find teammates with his vision and precision. He should be a star for GCS this year with an expanded role and more development.
Cockerham should be a name that starts to pop on the scene this year after some good performances in AAU as a hybrid forward that impacts the game on both ends. He’s solid on the ball and can attack the paint as an off ball cutter or on his own. Defensively, he’s super versatile, able to guard the perimeter and the post. His lateral athleticism allows him to stay in front of the smaller guards, while his toughness and length helps him battle on the boards and guard bigger forwards all over the court. He should see time with the varsity group at Apex HS and continue to make a name for himself.
Jordan Hamm
Jordan Hamm
Hamm has a strong frame, hopefully with more room to grow which will turn him into a strong-bodied wing that can physically overpower many opponents on the court. He’s a driver who can create space with his physicality down low and on the perimeter, and plays with toughness all the time. Rebounding wise, he’s strong too for all the same reasons, both cleaning up his teammates misses as well as his opponents. Still figuring out a perimeter game, but he already does a lot on offense. He should learn from the guys at Wilson Prep this year and be ready to make a splash soon.
Teeshon Smith
Teeshon Smith
Smith is a bouncy, athletic wing that is going to have a big new role in Concord Academy’s success this season. He’s much more refined than many his age, with explosive scoring ability from many spots all over the court. He is known for his leaping and finishing ability, but can also hit jumpers and play off the bounce to attack opponents. He’s someone who can immediately impact a game coming off the bench, and should get an opportunity to do that quickly at Concord with many graduating seniors.
Rosser is a name to keep tracking out of the eastern part of the state, a 6’7 forward who is already showing big time potential. He gets the job done all over the court, plain and simple. He’s skilled with the ball, keeping it tight and showing off good awareness for his age. He can shoot it pretty well too, especially off the catch. I’m interested to see where he’s headed to for high school, but as a young kid for his grade, he will have plenty of opportunity to both learn and play over the next few years.
