THE FAVORITE – Marquette
One of the biggest surprises in the state last season, Marquette could be primed to repeat in 2023-24. The Hilltoppers went 21-7 in 2022-23, reaching the sectional finals before falling to eventual state champion De Pere. The top four scorers are back, including St. Thomas commit Nolan Minessale Nolan Minessale 6'5" | SF Marquette | 2024 State WI (22.6 ppg), T.J. Adams T.J. Adams 6'2" | CG Marquette | 2024 State WI (12.6 ppg), and Ryan Meehan Ryan Meehan 6'2" | SG Marquette | 2024 State WI (11.3 ppg) — all seniors.
DARK HORSE – Brookfield Central
The Lancers finished three games out of first place last season, but reload behind their top three scorers. Senior forward Jack Daugherty Jack Daugherty 6'8" | PF Brookfield Central | 2024 State #311 Nation WI (17.4 ppg) was top 10 in the league in both scoring and rebounding last season. He’ll have a strong supporting cast in senior wing Charlie Geske Charlie Geske 6'4" | SF Brookfield Central | 2024 State WI (15.0 ppg) and junior guard Anthony Rise Anthony Rise 6'0" | CG Brookfield Central | 2025 State WI (13.2 ppg).
MOST IMPROVED – Germantown
The Warhawks could have three All-Conference players in 2023-24. Germantown finished seventh in the Greater Metro last season and 10-15 overall. A team that might have been better than its record, the Warhawks dropped five league games by eight points or less after Jan. 23.

Going to predict the award will be shared in 2023-24. Minesalle won it outright as a junior, but think Central contends for a title, which forces more of a split vote.
Minesalle is coming off a breakout campaign in which he averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and nearly two steals per game. A high flyer with serious bounce, Minessale shot 58 percent from the floor. His 22.6 ppg average ranked second in the Greater Metro.
A skilled, versatile forward who’s done nothing but climb the ranking since he was a freshman, Daugherty averaged 17.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per outing last winter. He shot 44 percent from the field, including a blistering 43 percent from 3-point range.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER – Cooper Grams
Been talking about Grams all off-season. The Sussex Hamilton guard is going to catch a lot of people by surprise this season. Grams averaged 8.0 points and 2.2 assists per game while playing alongside one of the top seniors in the state, also a Division 1 recruit. The senior floor general showed the ability to take over games as a scorer or facilitator during the travel season.
SLEEPER – Moses Long Moses Long 6'3" | SG Wauwatosa West | 2024 State WI
Long is the heartbeat for Tosa West. A player that does anything that’s asked of him and fills every role, Long gave the Trojans 6.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game as a junior. The 6-foot-3 senior is one of the best defenders in the state and uses his athleticism in a variety of ways. With Cole Hansen now in South Carolina, Long’s scoring production will likely see an uptick as well.
