Today, we will be continuing my “Volunteer State Standouts” series as we kickstart evaluations of some of the more efficient talent in the class of 2025. Without any further ado, here’s my list of the top 2025 point guards in Tennessee to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
At the top of my list of standouts is Shane Cherry Shane Cherry 5'9" | PG Austin-East | 2025 State #353 Nation TN , a 5-foot-9 point guard at Austin-East High School. Cherry was one of the most explosive weapons on the Roadrunners’ roster during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. In addition to outstanding size, speed and efficiency on both sides of the floor, Cherry impressed me with his ability to contribute offensively from the top of the key, around the perimeter and in the paint. The rising junior out of Knoxville, TN. additionally impressed me with his strong ball control, smart passing and his overall quick decision-making ability. After proving himself on the court last year, Cherry is definitely a significant point guard in the state to watch.
Claiming the second place spot on my list is Ty Glasper Ty Glasper 6'1" | PG Gatlinburg-Pittman | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-1 point guard at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School. Glasper was one of the more efficient talents on the Highlanders’ roster during his junior season of high school basketball last year. In addition to excellent size, speed and athleticism, Glasper stands out due to his strong ball control at the top of the key, his ability to hit the outside three and his ability to drive to the rim. The rising junior out of Gatlinburg, TN. additionally impresses with his effort on the other side of the ball and his disruptiveness on the defensive side. After proving himself on the court last year, Glasper is without question a highly athletic point guard in the state to watch.
At number three on my list of standouts is Cortez Graham-Howard Cortez Graham-Howard 6'5" | PG Hillsboro | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-4 point guard at Hillsboro High School. Graham was highly explosive on both sides of the floor for the Burros during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. With outstanding size, speed and versatility, Graham made a huge difference on the boards, maintaining solid ball control at the top of the key. The rising junior out of Nashville, TN. additionally impressed me with his well-balanced playstyle and ability to create offensive production with a strong passing game. Graham was also a reliable shooter from range and in the paint. After an impressive year, Graham is certainly worth keeping an eye on next season.
Finishing in the number four spot on my list is King Keary King Keary 6'2" | PG Goodpasture | 2025 VA , a 6-foot-2 point guard at Goodpasture High School. Keary was one of the more reliable weapons on the Cougars’ roster during his junior season of high school basketball last year. In addition to outstanding size, speed and explosiveness at the top of the key, what stands out about Keary is his strong ball control, passing, effort on the boards and his overall physicality in the paint. The rising junior out of Madison, TN. additionally impressed with his solid defensive effort as he forced turnovers and kept the opposition out of the paint. After a great year on the court, Keary is definitely a point guard to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Highlights
Coming in at number five on my list of standouts is Tyler Jones Tyler Jones 6'3" | CG Evangelical Christian (ECS) | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-2 point guard at Evangelical Christian High School. Jones was one of the most explosive stars on the Eagles’ roster during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. What stands out about Jones is his well-balanced playstyle and contributions from the top of the key. The rising junior out of Cordova, TN. additionally impresses with his strong passing ability, ball control and consistent scoring effort. After an outstanding year, Jones is without question one of the more intriguing point guard prospects in the state to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
