2/17/25: One of the most consistent hoopers in the entire state, Cortez handled the ball and handled business Monday night. The D1-signee helped Hillsboro secure the #1 seed and finish 10-0 for the second consecutive season. Cortez does a lot of everything: rebound, score, pass, dribble, defend.

12/20/24: In the first half Cortez helped quite a bit on the glass. Known mostly for his scoring and passing, Cortez was contributing with the dirty work too. Cortez’s turnaround shot late in the third spoke to his dominance all over the floor. He did not command the offense like he is capable of though. The team played through many hands. Which works. Still, Cortez is an elite player, and he looked a little passive through stretches.
A sharp backdoor cut enabled Cortez to deliver a hockey assist to his teammate upon the catch. The play ended with a
