Since three-point shooting is so popular now you have to be able to guard it at a consistent or elite level. Here are players from the 2025 class who do just that with my top 3&D players from this class part II.
Bailey is a mobile stretch four that can do a lot of great things for a team. He can move his feet laterally as quickly as a guard which allows him to guard multiple positions on the perimeter. He is not afraid to challenge a player driving straight at him inside the paint as he will most likely block it because of his tall 6’9″ frame. Bailey can shoot as well as anyone and loves the corner shots as he rarely misses those. He knows how to get open on the perimeter and how to create space with the basketball. Contests do very little to his high releasing shot from deep.
Hidalgo is an excellent two-way point guard that never takes a play off. He applies heavy pressure to ball handlers when he is on defense using his long 6’4″ size to swarm and trap them. He will look to force double teams in the corners to force ball handlers to turn the ball over. Hidalgo will not give anyone he is guarding an inch of room to get around him. On offense, he has a smooth shot that looks effortless releasing from his fingertips. His catch-and-shoot ability is lethal with contests doing little to alter his shot. Hidalgo can get into his shooting motion no matter how difficult of a situation he is in.
Bradley is a quick guard that will look to push the tempo on both sides of the floor. The lefty has a nice shot from deep and can hit some impressive long-range shots a couple of steps behind the three-point line. His pull-up game is excellent too as he can break defenders down with his handles and hit some tough fading-away shots. On defense, Bradley will look to swarm you and use his quick reactions to strip the ball away from ball handlers. He knows exactly when to attempt a steal and will dive after any loose ball that is in the vicinity of him.
Saunders plays like a guard and a center at the time in different areas of the court making him a versatile player. He has a good shot from deep and due to his long arms and 6’4″ size can shoot over most defenders. The more shots he makes from deep the further away he will step back on his next shot. His catch-and-shoot ability is excellent off of pick-n-pops. Saunders guards the paint like a center using his long frame to block multiple shots in a game from players looking to drive into the paint.
Brown can play both sides of the ball at an elite level and uses his control and speed to do so. His high arching shot is smooth when he releases it. He is consistent on the catch-and-shoot shots from deep and will not hesitate to shoot from there. He can use his handles to get to different spots on the court to hit his effective pull-up jumpers. Brown will look to pressure you the second you touch the ball and will try to trap you or poke the ball free. He can use his long arms to get chase down blocks if he is beaten off the dribble.
