Expert Analysis
Andrew Herman | Prep Hoops Scout
Brown can score the basketball at a very high level with his ability to shoot the three-ball at an elite level while also getting to the rim whenever he wants to. The shot creator is averaging 17.5 points per game while hitting about 3 threes per game. He can get hot by just seeing one shot go down as the basketball looks like an ocean when he’s in a rhythm. At 6’3″ his quick and high release allows him to get his shot off of tightly contested defenses with little hesitation. Brown can work the midrange game and hit some tough fading-away jumpers.

Brown is an excellent shot creator off the dribble as he can hit almost any shot you set in front of him. His ability to create off the dribble and get shots behind the three-point line helps him heat up his game. At 6’3″ he has a high and quick release that allows him to get it off over anyone looking to contest him. Brown can make tough fading-away shots and does not flinch when multiple defenders are looking to close out on him.

Brown’s game looks so smooth and effortless with how he plays the game. He has all the moves in the world and will get very creative with how he gets open. His ability to turn on his speed at the right time makes him a tough guard. Brown will take his time on the perimeter and then look to get into the midrange to hit the pull-up shot before a defender gets a hand on it. He finishes strong at the rim and will look for contact on his way to the rim.

Brown can play both sides of the ball at an elite level and uses his control and speed to do so. His high arching shot is smooth when he releases it. He is consistent on the catch-and-shoot shots from deep and will not hesitate to shoot from there. He can use his handles to get to different spots on the court to hit his effective pull-up jumpers. Brown will look to pressure you the second you touch the ball and will try to trap you or poke the ball free. He can use his long arms to get chase down blocks if he is beaten off the dribble.

Brown is just an overall pure shooter from downtown just by watching him. He uses his long 6’3″ frame to shoot over smaller defenders giving him a great advantage over teams. His range is what separates him from other great shooters and can hit anything if you give him the space. Brown is excellent at the spot-up catch-and-shoot shot and will come off of many off-ball screens so he can get those open looks. I fully expect Brown to have another shooting lights-out season next year.
