After getting held to a quiet game against Minnesota Fury , Xavier responded in a big way the next day against Capital City Team Work . The 7 footer was just about unstoppable any time he touched the ball in the paint, showing soft touch to convert from a variety of angles. Didn’t try to do anything extra, just a quick shoulder turn utilizing his size to finish over the top of smaller defenders. Showed solid coordination at his size as well, setting a screen and rolling to the rim, then catching and going up for a dunk all in one fluid motion. Still relatively raw, but at 7′ with his touch around the basket there’s a lot of potential there.
Daniel spent a lot of the game going up against a 6’10 defender, and was going right at him in the post. Molhoek has a strong frame at around 6’7, and you can’t afford to let him get to his right hand to finish. When he was able to turn over his left shoulder and get aligned for a hook shot, he rarely missed. Has excellent touch with the right hand, and even against the type of size he was being guarded by, didn’t appear to be in any hurry to get his shot off. On the opposite end he wasn’t giving up any easy looks in the paint, and did a good job of clearing out space before pulling in rebounds in bulk.
At the high school level Trey’Dez Green is an athletic freak of nature. You just don’t see many 6’7 guys that can move like he does, especially considering he’s also 230 pounds. One of the best two-sport athletes in the country, Green was dominating the paint with his impressive body control and touch off the glass to finish just about anything inside. Ran the floor like a deer and threw down some high flying dunks in transition as well. When teams defended him with size he was able to step out to the perimeter and dribble into a mid-range jumper. Gets good elevation on his shot making it even harder to contest. Has the athleticism to play out on the perimeter, but the physical tools to dominate in the paint and rebound at a high level. Never have to question his work ethic either, as he was always playing harder than anyone on the floor, and it showed with how hard he competes for every rebound/loose ball.

The versatile forward for Full Package made some key plays late in the game against Minnesota Select . At 6’5 he’s a capable floor stretcher, and knocked down a pair of late 3’s to help his team extend their lead late in the game, and also put the ball on the floor and got to the basket for a lay-up in the final stretch of play. Moves well at his size but also has some strength allowing him to hold his ground in the post.

Liam produced at a high level in the pair of games I watched over the weekend. At 6’10 he’s quick off the floor and has solid mobility, combined with a high work rate on the glass. All weekend long he was creating second chance opportunities for his team as he was constantly crashing the offensive glass. In transition he was beating his man up the floor constantly, resulting in some easy dunks. Good hands to catch dump off passes and quickly get off the floor to finish inside. Doesn’t have to dribble a lot, but showed when needed he can put the ball on the floor and handle it a bit in the open floor. Athletic big who produces consistently because of how hard he plays.
Owen is so consistent with his production any time I watch him play with Minnesota Fury . I think a lot of it comes down to how hard he works. There are a lot of bigs who don’t play with much of an edge, but Owen is the exact opposite, and his grit makes him play like he’s 6’9+ at times. He’s stronger than he looks, is quick off the floor, and rebounds just about anything he can get a hand on. Threw down a hard dunk in transition in a big win over Big 3 Basketball . Plays within the flow of the offense for Minnesota Fury and is an efficient finisher with the chances he gets around the basket.

William Mortimore

William is a physical force at the high school level. Not many guys at this stage are going to match his strength and size at 6’10. This makes him a quality defender in the paint as he’s not going to give up an inch of space, and is able to wall up and take some contact to the chest when going up to contest shots. Ran the floor hard at his size and picked up a transition dunk against LA Broncos, while also showing some soft touch in the limited chances he got to finish around the rim. Strong hands to rebound and secure the ball in traffic.
