In addition to big-time live period events like Section 7, several schools host Summer Leagues as a way to both raise money and get an early evaluation of their team. Several players use the leagues as a way to put themselves on the recruiting and rankings radar. Here’s a look at some players from the class of 2026 that played themselves into position during the Summer Leagues.
Learned a lot about Anderson watching him during the Desert Reign Summer League. His offensive versatility is what caught my eye. He has decent length, and looked very comfortable when facing the basket. He has the tools and athleticism to be a breakout player this season.
Cobb’s game is unique to say the least, however he has two things that’s always important when it comes to making an impression, talent and production. The PG showed some decent wiggle during the Desert Reign Summer League, puting himself on the rankings map.
Cornachi is a gym rat that piggybacked a solid Spring with several strong performances during the GV Christian Summer League. The dynamic guard showed that he has some wiggle as well as range, and is a candidate for being one of the top players in 2A next season.
Gilbert has stuck with it, and improved 1% each time I’ve seen him. The hybrid guard helped himself with his play during the Desert Reign Summer League, showing that he can score the ball down low and when facing up and attacking the basket.
Speed seems to produce everytime I see him play. He showed during the Desert Reign League that he can impact games on both sides of the ball, using his quickness on the defensive end to be an on ball stopper, and his footspeed on the offensive end to be a tempo changing, jitterbug, paint touching PG.
Martinez gave glimpses of what he can do when he ran for Shadow Ridge in the Desert Reign League. The guard flashed some offensive skill to go along with good competitive streak. He helped himself simply by showing up and contributing to his club.
