In addition to big-time live period events like Section 7, several schools host Summer Leagues as a way to both raise money and get an early evaluation of their team. Several players use the leagues as a way to put themselves on the recruiting and rankings radar. Here’s a look at some 2024s looking to become top Sleepers in their senior years.
Fink caught my eye with his play at Section 7. The guard is a glue guy type for Meadows, with a knack for coming up huge in big spots. With the Mustangs looking to be a contender once again this year, don’t be suprised if the sleeper shooter comes up big in some crucial games.
You understand what kind of player you’re getting if he plays for Las Vegas, however Davenport showed that he can do more than just defend and play with energy. He could be a sleeper scoring prospect for the Wildcats this season, as the slashing wing has shown that he can get to the bucket.
Canyon Springs matches up with any team in the state because of players like Thomas. The post player is agile and bouncy and is a sleeper contender to be one of the top glass cleaners in the state. His ability to control the glass and score in the paint will be key to the success of Canyon Spring this season.
Shadow has several guys that can get buckets for them, what they don’t have is that grimy dirty work guy. Enter Martins, the 6’7 post is a long, rangy, active big that can generate second chance opportunities for his team. He has a chance to be on my all X – factor team, as his ability to play well should make Shadow into a sleeper contender in 4A.
People should really start to take Clark serious when it comes to 4A contenders. A lot of it has to do with players like Bakindo. He’s a bouncy, active big that can score the ball from the Dunkers spot, and as a rim runner in transition. His best value may be what he brings to the back line, look for him to be a Dark Horse candidate when it come to leading the state in blocked shots.
Burdiss is a good two way player who much like Skypointe, may sneak up on some people. His ability to not only defend multiple positions, but to cause live ball turnovers during the Desert Reign Summer League was extremely important to the success of his team. Don’t be suprised to see him as a sleeper all 4A defensive candidate next season.
Neal is a physical block bully that plays with an edge. His super power is his rebounding ability, as he has shown the ability to go up and get the rebound. He’s showed a good combination of soft hands, catching in close passes, and powerful mitts ripping down rebounds. He was one of the top Glass Cleaners during the Desert Reign Summer League.
