Chi Hoops 2025 Dominates Peak (AZ)

In their first game today, [player_tooltip player_id='1550741' first='Jacob' last='Rice'] scored 25 points as Chi Hoops took care of business against All-In. Winning 67-63. I watched their second matchup against PEAK (AZ) Closely. [player_tooltip player_id='1550741' first='Jacob' last='Rice'] showed me something new on his first bucket, as he drained a heavily contested post-spin fadeaway. He helped get Chi Hoops off to a 22-11 start with excellent defending. There were lots of players knocking down shots and contributing offensively, too. [player_tooltip player_id='1545122' first='Caleb' last='Lindsey'] got into some foul trouble early. But before that, he hit a contested three and a reverse layup driving down the lane. Another player who stepped up in the first half was [player_tooltip player_id='1544818' first='Bradley' last='Stratton'], who put up 11 points with three 3-pointers in the opening frame. [player_tooltip player_id='1545122' first='Caleb' last='Lindsey'] began the second half with a very explosive drive towards the rim. He put back his own miss inside shortly after, and then snagged some more tough rebounds with his bounce and long wingspan. [player_tooltip player_id='1550741' first='Jacob' last='Rice'] even picked up a pair of assists in addition to a few more scores inside. Five players were in double figures midway through the second half as [program_tooltip program_id='2076904' first='Chicago' last='Hoops'] led by over 30 in a runaway win.

24:Up 17U Wins Late vs All-In Kvamme

It was the close game from the start with both teams exchanging buckets at a high volume. For All-In, [player_tooltip player_id='1545133' first='Makai' last='Kvamme'] facilitated the offense with ease. A big time playmaker doing what he does bear, getting his guys involved. He racked up plenty of assists to start the game. 6'5” F [player_tooltip player_id='1232827' first='Wes' last='Gudeman'] did a good job of knocking down those shots. Hitting a pair of triples from the top of the key early on. For 24:Up, [player_tooltip player_id='1144530' first='Garrett' last='Murphy'] was hot early. He doesn't panic and makes quick decisions with the ball. He buried three triples in the opening half to go along with a contested baseline drive to the hoop. They continued to hold an advantage in the second half as [player_tooltip player_id='1489811' first='Aiden' last='Krause'] used his strength inside for some tough buckets at the rim. But the team defense was even more impressive. They communicated well and constantly cut off driving lanes. Holding All-In to less than 10 points through the third quarter of the game. But All-In would bounce back. [player_tooltip player_id='1232827' first='Wes' last='Gudeman'] utilized his big frame down low for a tough inside score. While [player_tooltip player_id='1545133' first='Makai' last='Kvamme'] supplied a bucket and some more assists. With 40 seconds left, [player_tooltip player_id='1489811' first='Aiden' last='Krause'] had a steal-and-score to give 24:Up a 1-point lead. Two FT's sealed it as 24:Up won 53-50.

M14 17U Has Big Second Half To Beat PEAK (AZ)

I missed a good chunk of this game because the previous matchup went into triple OT. For PEAK, I was a big fan of Christian Wells. The 2024 SG lit it up from the floor early with a handful of three's and buckets from all levels. He's got an excellent build too and should be a prospect D2's and High D3's should look out for. On the other side. [player_tooltip player_id='1295644' first='Treshawn' last='Blissett'] showed plenty of potential. Ling lengthy 6'5” build allowed him to make a big impact defensively. Offensively, he made two inside buckets and followed it up with a pair of three's in the first half. M14 held a decent advantage at the break. In the second half, Christian Wells kept PEAK in it with another deep three and a pair of free throws. But M14 stepped up and went on a run shortly after. [player_tooltip player_id='1545137' first='Jalen' last='Crues'] had a ferocious one-handed poster which was replicated by [player_tooltip player_id='1978583' first='Will' last='Ashford'] a few minutes later. I was personally a big fan of Ashford last weekend with Metea Valley. This weekend was no different. He hit three triples in this contest and ended with 14 points. M14 used a big second half on to win 70-60. [player_tooltip player_id='1295644' first='Treshawn' last='Blissett'] led the way with 17 points. PG [player_tooltip player_id='1295542' first='Bryce' last='Welch'] finished with 12 and hit two 3's. Christian Wells led PEAK with 17.

First Look at Flight 17U vs All-In

This was the first time I've watched this Flight 17U squad. 6'5” F [player_tooltip player_id='2104827' first='Dominic' last='Pangallo'] started the game with four triples and an inside bucket. He also had a block late in the first half and followed it up with his fifth three of the contest. 6'5” F [player_tooltip player_id='1978582' first='Jaziah' last='Harper'] also had a big first half and scored double figures in the period. Flight was down almost the entire opening half until TJ Lee hit a three in the corner. He followed that up with a reverse layup slashing down the baseline to take a three point lead into the break. Both of those plays were set up by KJ Cathey, who displayed excellent vision and unselfishness throughout the game. He knew exactly when a player would be open, while also utilizing numerous types of passes. [player_tooltip player_id='1978582' first='Jaziah' last='Harper'] opened the second half for Flight on a tear. He blocked three shots inside and got open in the paint for a couple easy scores. A few minutes later, he hit a corner three with six minutes left to tie up the game. Although they wouldn't win this game, there's a lot to like about Flight Athletics overall.
