He scored 26 points and grabbed 4 boards in the Championship Game, Porter was 10 of 18 on FG’s. Ihnen was the best player at the GPA. He had monster games, was high-yielding, and he scored from every level. Ihnen was in “attack mode” at the Whitney Center and it seemed like nobody could slow him down. The USD commit was The Man at the GPA and it was his best/most complete tournament of the AAU season. Expect more of that high-level play in ATL.
He put up nice numbers in the Championship Game with 20 points and 9 rebounds on 8 of 12 shooting. Jesse had a big/productive/impressive tournament. Van Kalsbeek is a quick-twitch athlete that plays his tail off. Jesse was around the ball all tourney and he made plays on both ends of the floor. Jesse was great around the hoop and his finishing solutions were fantastic. The athlete from Iowa was a huge factor on the offensive glass and he was a playmaker on defense. Jesse got into passing lanes, deflected passes, created TO’s, and scored in transition. It was a great tournament for Van Kalsbeek.
He stuffed the stat sheet in the Championship Game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. Mehrman is the straw that stirs the SSA drink. Jacoby has phenomenal vision, he always finds the right man, he pushes the pace, pitches the ball ahead, and he knows how to feed the hot hand. Mehrman was a high assist man all tournament, he also cashed in triples. Jacoby was consistent, he gave great effort, and he always seemed to make the correct play. His passing ability and court vision made SSA better. Mehrman puts his teammates into position to score and make plays. The GPA was another nice showing for the Tiger. Mehrman just picked up his second NSIC offer, the Mary offer was announced today.
Like always, this super talented Spartan stood out with his athleticism and he made some splashy plays. Sem had eye-popping scores in transition and impressive baseline WHAMs. He hit three-pointers and showed that he is a 3-level scorer. Jeremiah is buying into his role and he gets better and better with every event. He did great work finding shooters, drawing help, and moving the ball. Jeremiah made good decisions and he made his teammates better. Ever time Jeremiah is on the floor, you better be paying attention.
He was really good on the defensive end and on the glass. Squires controlled the paint and he was an impact player down low. With Rock gone, Alec was the man in the middle that manned the paint. Squires had consistent play in all 5 games and he gave 110% effort. The SDSU commit was a difference maker on D and he controlled the boards at the GPA.
This was the best and most consistent tournament that Tish has played in the AAU season. He is hard to guard on the block, Tish posts/seals hard and his quick baseline spin-move was productive. He creates space with ball fakes, pivots, and he uses his body amazingly well around the basket. Wingerst is a smart, clever, and strong forward. Tish was productive on the offensive glass, he played hard every game, this was the best & most consistent ball that the Panther has played up to this point for SSA.
Highlights
He tweaked his ankle on Friday morning. Anderson fought through it and kept playing. Matt had a good overall tournament and he showed his timely playmaking with a crucial bucket in a close game. He hit smooth three pointers in the catch-and-shoot game. Anderson’s perimeter shooting has improved over the spring/summer. He is always competing at a high level and Matt is consistently the first one to dive on the floor for a loose ball. Anderson played defense with an unrelenting tenacity and it was easy to see that he is fearless. Matt played with high NRG, great effort, and he was a team player.
Highlights
He was out with an injury. VanBockern is a long SG that can fill it up from deep. Braeden is also tough on the defensive side of the ball.
