The all-around 6-foot-3 point guard shined individually, earning Metro League Player of the Year and First Team All-State honors, but also helped Mountainside reach its second straight 6A state tournament. This off-season has extended the good vibes for the rising junior. His college recruitment has continued to rise with a new scholarship offer and he’s having fun playing and developing with a new AAU squad, Beauchamp Elite.
“It was kind of like a last-minute thing, but it’s ended up working really well for me,” Boe said. “I like the good coaches (they have) and there’s a lot of good players to play with. Playing at the highest level on the Adidas 3SSD is pretty fun and it was all new to me, but it was a good first experience.”
With Beauchamp Elite, Boe played one tournament with the 17U squad but has mainly spent his time at 16U. He’s been playing mainly at point guard and he’s been working hard at improving his overall game. “I’ve been working on my handle a lot and kind of stepping out my range a little bit,” Boe said. “The higher I go up it’s going to be harder and harder to get to the rim, so I’ve been really focusing on that.”
Playing on the elite Adidas 3SSD has given Boe the opportunity to play in front of a lot of college coaches and it’s in turn elevated his recruitment. In fact, one school recently stepped up into the mix and gave him a scholarship offer.
“I took an unofficial visit to Boise State and then they ended up offering me,” Boe said. “They’ve been recruiting me since about 8th grade. It’s a really good coaching staff and I really like the people. The campus is really nice – it’s a really good kind of home feeling. Right now there weren’t really students (there) so it wasn’t the same feel, but I really like the facilities, weight room – just the whole area is a really nice neighborhood.”
Boe’s phone has been ringing off the hook since colleges can get in touch with rising juniors but schools that had been in contact consistently before then have been two that have offered previously – Portland and Seattle – and he’s also been in contact with St. Mary’s. It’s still early for him with his recruitment so now that he’s done playing with Mountainside his focus is back on July and with Beauchamp – and then the 2023-24 season again with the Mavericks.
“I mean, trying to win as many games as we can in the 3SSB and then see what holds next,” Boe said. “I think the next thing is shooting for Gatorade Player of the Year – I mean, that’s always been a goal of mine and I think I can achieve it next year.”
Boe currently ranks as the #1 ranked player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
