In Louisiana, coaches will more than likely focus on the numerous guards we have in this guard heavy state. In this Prep Hoops exclusive, we will look into six players who coaches should watch during this live period.
Zion Weeks Zion Weeks 6'0" | PG Wossman | 2025 State LA (Wossman/Adidas | 6’1″ | 2025)
Weeks can play the one or the two for a team. He can score at all three levels but he is best when he is attacking downhill. Weeks has a way to draw contact and either finish at the rim or on the line. His ability to play-make an force the defense to make quick decisions is a trait that college coaches would love to have.
Rondae Hill (Calvary Baptist/O.W.E. | 6’0″ | 2024)
Hill is a point guard who has continued to impress as the summer has evolved. He had a very good season being named district player of the year and has continued his good play this summer. Hill is quick as a hiccup and has an adequate floater to go with an improving three ball. Hill is more than solid at the point and will be a good point guard on the next level.
Turner Duncan Turner Duncan 6'3" | PG St. Augustine | 2024 State LA (St.Augustine/New Orleans Elite | 6’3″ | 2024)
Duncan may be the best all-around guard that Louisiana has. He has the ability to shoot it from deep or the mid-range and he can get to the cup. Duncan can play both guard positions and is a high level defender also. He performed well at the JSE and he will be one to watch during the live period.
Xavier Ferguson Xavier Ferguson 6'2" | CG Zachary | 2025 State #322 Nation LA (Zachary/LA Elite | 6’2″ | 2025)
Ferguson has the versatility to rival the guard right above him in this piece. He is more of a two guard who can facilitate than a true point guard. However, he can put the ball in the hole from all three levels and defend both guard and wing positions. Ferguson is a player who can change the complexion of a game with his skill. He will be one to watch during the live period.
Jordan Comanche Jordan Comanche 6'6" | CG Wossman | 2024 State LA (Wossman/LA Future | 6’5″ | 2024)
A 6’5″ player with point guard skills are hard to come by but Comanche is legit. In his four years on the south side of Monroe, he has played every position on the floor. Coach Jones believes in coaching and developing versatile players and Comanche is another one in that line. He can drive and shoot from all three levels while defending 1-4. Comanche is unique as the get because of his size and skill set.
Wayne Randall-Bashay Wayne Randall-Bashay 6'4" | SF New Iberia | 2024 State LA (New Iberia/LivOn | 6’4″ | 2024)
Randall-Bashay is one of the wings that can guard everyone on the floor at anytime of the game. He can guard all five positions and he knows how to score in the paint and from the mid-range. His ability to rebound in and out of his position on the floor is another trait he has that makes him valuable. He is one to keep in mind during the live period.
